DCIHasBeen
Actually it's a long standing tradition in Italian Opera houses that, if the audience doesn't like the performance, they boo quite loudly. After all, it's the audience that pays the bills, and has the right to be entertained ... Which I know flows in direct contradiction to all of the edutainment who-ha that has been shoved down audiences throats for the last 15-20 years. That said, I don't think I've ever booed a corps and, outside of some wildly enthusiastic applause and the occasional "Wooohooooooo!", prefer not to get vocal, having been nailed in the ear too many times some moron screaming "Go Get 'em Lumpy!" or some such nonsense in my ear during the quiet part of someone's show (Not to mention the time I sat behind someone during Madison's show who knew ALL of the Lyrics to "Carmen" ... Oh, boy.) If I don't like it, I generally don't applaud, but don't really have a problem with someone booing if they really feel the need. I can safely say almost positive. These kids are paying. How old are these singers? Under 21? Maybe. How about working 10 hours a day in blinding heat and all the weather? Extremely doubtful. You go to an Opera House to see a single opera, a drum corps show to see as many as 12 corps in a single night, or if we're talking domes, many more than that. If you don't care for one, why boo when you know there are others to enjoy? Plus all the above reasons.

But the performers in the Italian Opera are paid professionals. Quite a bit different from unpaid amateurs.
Hrothgar15
I wonder why they don't say that they voted yes... Sorry, forgot to post. Yeah, I voted yes. I've never booed a corps during performance, but that's not to say I wouldn't ever do it. :)
ArgonneRebel
I have never, nor will I ever boo a corps. Every corps in every single division works their tails off to entertain us, the audience. That alone is enough for a round of applause. I have, however, Bloo'd at a corps before. :P Edited January 25, 2007 by ArgonneRebel
