"Folding"

Recommended Posts

Ok, this is nitpicky, I know, but I see the word "folded" thrown about with reckless abandon on this board...when it isn't the correct term most of the time.

Lets all take preventative steps to ensure that we uise this word correctly.

Example:

Capital Regiment has not "folded", they are simply not fielding a corps this year. The organization still exists and fully intends to put a corps back on the field.

Delta Brigade (I know I'm being obscure here, but it was a chance to bring them up!) HAS "folded", as the orginization no longer functions nor does it even exist at this point.

I know its semantics...but using the word "folded" to describe a corps that really hasn't done so could possibly be confusing to some, and may hinder that corps attempts at further recruitment and restoration, even if such a hinderance would be tiny. Better to not hinder them at all! I think we can all agree that we would all do anything we could, given the resources and time, to keep a corps, any corps, on the field.

If you don't buy that, think of my mental health! :P

Right, but they do still operate an indoor drumline and I believe a bingo operation. So, no, the Freelancers haven't folded, the corps is just inactive.
