Tapper
Its also worth mentioning that theCardinals use the dome at NAU for their preseason camp. Once that is over the college team starts to move in. Its also likely that the teams from UA and ASU will be in full swing by then. Looking at the UOP stadium site, nothing on their event calendar indicates DCI for that day. If UOP is out, the pickings could be slim on where to go. The only over dome I can think of is in Springerville http://www.elks.net/dome/dome.html#DomeInformation and there is no way it can handle the crowd a major regional would attract. Weird that a domed HS stadium would be in AZ of all places... Hoping that things work out with UOP Thom W

endy29
The cardinals have a HOME pre-season game that weekend so it's probably due to that.
Minimaster
But wouldn't the preseason game be the day after the show, on Sunday?
BariEuph
What stadium was used for the BCS Championship game?? however, the band shows that happened at the tostitos bowl 5 years ago were held in BOB, which has a retractable roof. (it was open for the shows)
drumcat
But wouldn't the preseason game be the day after the show, on Sunday? No. The first Cards preseason home game will be no earlier than August 16, 2007. And look out; the Cards are preseason juggernauts... BigBoom
however, the band shows that happened at the tostitos bowl 5 years ago were held in BOB, which has a retractable roof. (it was open for the shows) It would seem to make sense that BOB/Chase Field couldn't possibly host the August DCI event since that's 2/3rds into the major league baseball season and the time, effort, and $$$s that go in to maintaining the turf precludes any possibliity of turning it into a football field for the weekend. The band events and bowl games that have been played there have been done in late December or early January when there is no baseball going on. If it's not at UOP Stadium and it's held anywhere in the lower portion of the state of AZ., it will be likely not be a pleasant experience for participants or fans. Eagerly looking forward to my 25th summer in the desert...... Boom
Tom Brace
Here's the best way to provide a top flight drum corps show in the lower half of AZ. 1. Book ASU stadium for the date. 2. Begin the show at 8 p.m. (with the ASU Marching Band, Star Spangled Banner, etc.) 3. First corps takes the field at 8:30 p.m. 4. If there are 11 corps, the show will be over by midnight. 5. Arizona has no daylight savings time so it's dark by 8 p.m. 6. Sure it's hot, but not nearly as hot as when you are in the sun. Those are my thoughts on saving the Phoenix show. It's a summer Saturday, not the typical Tuesday passing-thru-Arizona show. I would be all for first step at 9pm, running 15 minutes and no T&P. Besides, most if not all of the corps won't rehearse from 1pm on. Only the cadets were dumb/brave enough to do that one year. Those troopers/nutjobs went till 3-something. Crazy. Anyhow, ya, get this thing under the lights, late, and it won't be bad. There's nothing over there to wake up. No late night noise concerns. No one is playing Sunday, unless Academy is in Lake Havasu still.
oldsoprano
No one is playing Sunday, unless Academy is in Lake Havasu still. Actually, many of the corps in the Phoenix show (Spirit, Crown, Phantom and Madison, to name a few) have a show Sunday night in San Diego.
