Drum Corps Marriages

Recommended Posts

My wife technically didn't march, but we were married in May before my age out year. She was on the road with us most of the summer as a volunteer/cook.

I put up a page specifically for this purpose on the Kavaliers alumni website:

http://www.kavaliers-alumni.org

Click on the "Marriages" link at the bottom.

Restricted it to just alum/alum and alum/other-corps-alum folks. Kinda cool to see how many people met and married through this wacky sport.

My late wife marched in the Sky Ryders from 84-88. She would have marched all the way to 90, but she had some knee problems that took her out. Both of us were teaching in South Texas during the mid-90's (she was teaching English and I was teaching Band). We met on the prehistoric internet through our common love and experiences in drum corps. We even knew a lot of the same people. Donna was a great gal and that was a very wonderful time in my life.

All of my best friends are involved with corps in one way or another. I agree, the jealous types won't be able to handle a relationship if the two don't meet eye to eye about drum corps...

Just wish there were more single guys (my age...the over 40 set) that are involved in the activity.

Hey! Maybe someone should start up a DCI Match.com!

I fit the profile....^OO^

Met my ex-wife in the early 70's . Both of us marched. She went to compete in DCI(1972-1974) along with myself. Lost contact in 1975, reconnected in 1979. Got hitched in 1980 and divorced in 1996. Our two girls marched DCI also.

What a long strange trip it was.

Aww! This is all so adorable...

Wait, do I have to turn in my "guy card" now?

...only if you want to have the ladies throw things at you!

What sort of things? If we're talking about baked goods or $100 bills, than yes!
