rosski47
####### sweet!! Too bad the entire piece isn't up....but sweet nonetheless.Dream's version was a little shorter -- being a possible onfield....the SCV version goes into some other parts of the choral work we never got. I'm blanking on the story behind the piece...a plea to God for the composer's daughter, who was fighting cancer (?) It's actually an ancient text put to music by Lauridsen. This was part of my school's concert set this year, so our director told us about the background.
DrumCorpsFan03
I thought "O Magnum Mysterium" - Morton Lauridsen version, was on the "Do not arrange list"...
ChicagoFan
The Latin text followed by my loose English translation: O magnum mysterium, et admirabile sacramentum ut animalia viderent Dominum natum, jacentem in praesepio! Beata Virgo, cujus viscera meruerunt portare Dominum Christum. Alleluia! O great mystery and glorious sacrament. The animals worship the Lord, born in a stable. Blessed be the Virgin who was worthy to bear Jesus Christ. Alleluia. The author of the verses is unknown but it has endured as a motet text for centuries. One of the earliest and most notable choral settings is by Vittoria in the 16th century.

84BDsop
It was just "added" this year. Hmmm...i seem to recall Dream's arrangement by John Wales last year being because he knew Morton Lauridsen.

PrfctTimeOfDay
I know that back in 2004 Bellbrook High School Won the Class AA BOA Championship and they had this piece in their information overload show. They did a great job with it. Anyway, if you want to check it out, they have it posted on their site. . . They play it from the 3:09 to about 5:20 mark http://www.marching-eagles.org/2004_season...on_overload.htm or http://www.marching-eagles.org/2004_season/Info.wma Edited June 5, 2007 by PrfctTimeOfDay
nctarheels05
Oh yeah!!! That was such a beautiful arrangement of it too! I would love to hear them play that again! search youtube... i found it on there i played a wind version for my college's symphony band, it was pretty cool. Not nearly the same as the choral version, but it would be cool for corps, i agree.
