MsBusDriver
Hey Maggie!I went hoarse cheering for SCV at Whitewater in '75! Didn't get my voice back for three days. At least you beat MS at prelims in Whitewater that year. I'll never forget how happy the SCV people were when I ran into them at a local grocery store after prelims that day. I don't think it was in the cards for anybody to beat MS that year. I don't think the judging community had yet grasped the idea of sheer volume in a junior corps as yet in '75. Up to that point senior corps put out a stronger sound than any junior did. MS was overwhelming, and the judges rewarded it, instead of the overall brilliance of SCV. Why thanks Brian. What a nice thing to say! Yeah, that was another tough loss. We really thought we could pull it off at Whitewater after the prelim show, but there was just no beating that Madison Hornline when they totally turned it on. It's such a shame though that no matter how loud you turn up your speakers, you'll never get your face torn off like we did when listening to them live. Guess we were lucky to be there then B) . Jd83
It was hot in Texas that summer. I got sunburned down there and even had blisters form. I was missing cool midwest evenings at that point. But we were on a pretty good win streak up to DATR. Members of my family drove from New Orleans to Houston to see that show. That was pretty cool. kansasDC
This was from my ageout year of 1980. It was horrible in Miami that day. July 3, 1980, Miami FL: 1. Bridgemen - 78.75 2. Crossmen - 74.10 3. Spirit of Atlanta - 72.50 3. Crossmen - 65.40 4. Long Island Kingsmen - 64.30 5. General Butler Vagabonds - 49.75 6. Marion Cadets - 36.15 7.
