[Guard Diva]

since a lot of this thread has seemed to question why Madison is scoring so low, here are my thoughts:

I'm not a horn or drum guy, I'm a guard guy, so I can't comment on music but as far as visual, here's what I saw:

1. a guard equipment book that was MAYBE half done. no, I didn't time it, but it certaily seemed like there was as much, if not MORE marching around without work then there was actual equipment handling. no equipment work means not as interesting visual.

2. there's a solo in the middle of the show with the entire corps and guard around the perimeter of the field....solo horn player is playing and there is NOTHING visual happening....no body moves, no guard, not even anyone ON the field....VERY down moment.

3. show has a VERy big impact ending.......except, that's not the end.....after this big moment, they put in a soft, down ending that peters off to teh edge of he field....exactly the opposite of how they start........very anticlimactic.

I havne't seen recaps, but they SOUND great! I'm guessing their score is being brought way down in the GE and visual captions.

I was very very confused by #2 on your list when I saw them in Mankato. I did not understand what they were going for at all, that needs a rewrite big time.

I am glad to see that it was not just my memory slipping with the guard work. I don't remember a single flag being spun in the opener.
