CAGuardFan
Hello, here is the link for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Orchestra. Unfortunately the Orchestra was not part of the Olympic Opening Ceremonies but they did perform at different sites in China and are having a great time. One of their performances actually made history, they performed in Tiananmen Square and were the first foreign group to ever get permission to perform there. There are pictures and video links of the Tiananmen square performance as well as lots of other PHOTO and MULTIMEDIA/PRESS links on the Orchestra site. Being a former "guard mom", my daughter was in the Beyer World guard for the last 4 years and is in China now, I was happy to see that the Olympic Orchestra was not only musicians but included color guard members as well. Color guard deserves the recognition and from the TV coverage I have seen color guard is getting more publicity in the US and around the world and that is great! My daughter is having a great time , I miss her, they left on July 28th and come home on August 12th! I am afraid to see my phone bill!!! There are a lot of bands and color guards from around the world that make up this 2008 member orchestra. It is amazing to see the pictures and videos of them performing together. These kids are experiencing something that most likely will only come along once in a lifetime! Check out the site for some really neat things! The Beijing 2008 Olympic Orchestra is comprised of three core units - the RED Orchestra (Americas), GREEN Orchestra (Pacific/Islands) and the GOLD Orchestra (China). Members of these three units will join together to form the Beijing 2008 Olympic Orchestra. Participating groups who will take part in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Orchestra include: RED ORCHESTRA - Fred P. Beyer High School (Modesto, California) - Grace Davis High School (Modesto, California) - James C. Enochs High School (Modesto, California) - James Logan High School (Union City, California) - Modesto High School (Modesto, California) - Peter Johansen High School (Modesto, California) - Thomas Downey High School (Modesto, California) - California State University, Fresno (Fresno, California) - University of Washington (Seattle, Washington) - Hockinson High School (Brush Prairie, Washington) - Inglemoor High School (Kenmore, Washington) - Skyview High School (Vancouver, Washington) - University of Oregon (Eugene, Oregon) GREEN ORCHESTRA - John Paul College (Queensland, Australia) - Sheldon College (Queensland, Australia) - North Mackay High School (Queensland, Australia) - Performing Arts Unit "Millenium Marching Band" (New South Wales, Australia) - Australian Youth Band (Victoria, Australia) - Pride of the Pacific Marching Alliance (Guam) GOLD ORCHESTRA - Schools of the Haidan District (Beijing, China) Here is the link to the 2008 Olympic Orchestra... http://beijing2008olympicorchestra.com/joomla

dugg
So, is it right to assume that most of the guard kids are from James Logan?? Anyone know who choreographed all the flag work?? not certain about the flagwork however the "choreographer" for the opening and closing ceremonies is listed as zhang jigang [co-collaborator with visionary director zhang yimou]he also is the official director/choreographer of the peoples liberation army song and dance ensemble.to see some of his work go to youtube and search "buddha with thousand hands 2008 [high quality]".quite remarkable indeed! looking forward to james logan's return to the wgi schoolastic world class stage! lindap
Thanks for the web site link. Looks like they're having a great time. I looked up "Beijing 2008 Tutti" and the long uniform selection is for the directors. Tutti is an Italian word literally meaning all or together.
