Blackstar Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I was looking at Rush's video of XYZ and it has phrases of drum solos I've heard somewhere in drum corps but can't place it. It was a solo or exercise. Does anyone know who played it or if it was played? Quote

Stradivarius Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Finding parts of different drum corps' music in other ensembles is very dependent upon the backround of the music writer. For example, my instructer for my high school's drumline has marched with the Empire Statesmen for several years. Afer marching with them this past season, all the parts seem aaaaawful familiar..... Jeff Ream Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Do you mean YYZ? yeah I caught that too but forgot to bring it up Quote
Blackstar Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 Do you mean YYZ? I'm not really a Rush person besides Tom Sawyer and Limelight...and now YYZ. But I guess people knew what I meant. Quote
Fastone Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 The field warmup for the Bushwackers in the mid-late 80's was based on YYZ Quote
floatdude Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Suncoast Sound Drum and Bugle Corps, It was 1984 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWIPdnwWboQ it starts at 4:55 seconds on the video. I always wanted to do this drum solo in drum corps and high school band. Quote
drumno5 Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 (edited) The field warmup for the Bushwackers in the mid-late 80's was based on YYZ Yeah, Bob Dubinski brought it to us in '85. I think I still have copy of it in the basement somewhere. For anyone who may be interested, "YYZ" is the airport code for Pearson International Airport in Toronto. regards, Fred O.
