Popular Post PhilSCV Posted August 16, 2011 Popular Post Share Posted August 16, 2011 On behalf of the Oregon Crusaders, I wanted to say thank you to our World Class hosts, including the World Class corps directors, staff, members and fans, for welcoming OC and other open class corps into the World Championships Preliminary and Semi-final competitions in Indy. While this year presented some uncertainties about how the two classes would mix and compete, the end result has shown that there isn't nearly as much that separates us as unites us. We are all dedicated to the development of our performers, the creation of unparalleled art, and the thrill of accomplishment. The Oregon Crusaders place much more importance on performance accomplishment than we do on scores, and what a thrill it has been to feel so rewarded by the broader drum corps community for what we were able to accomplish this year. We felt your love every day, and nowhere was that more pronounced than when we entered the field on Friday. Your hospitality, your effusive praise, and your support in having us participate fully in the DCI championship experience is what makes you truly World Class. We've increasingly got our organizational legs underneath us - greater financial strength, community support, strong membership, etc - so as we continue to strengthen we'll be looking at that option. Open Class corps must petition to be in World Class, and it takes an audit by DCI and a vote of the membership directors to approve, so we would need to show consistent year-over-year organizational strength and performance excellence to make it happen. I'm hoping it's not for at least another year. I'd hate to see a great group like this go under because they went to WC too soon. Your members, staff and volunteers should be extremely proud of the great performances. I was excited to get to see you guys this year during finals week. And you guys put on 3 great performances. Too bad you didn't get to perform on Monday of the week as well. We are really looking forward to seeing Oregon Crusaders next year, and seeing another great show. There no ones junior corps so their primed and ready to make that jump soon. I can't wait to see 24 WC corps competing soon, I see these guys in a few knocking around Academy and Pacific Crest in the near future hopefully. Get that petition and WC proposition going guys.
