But that phrase "all things being equal" is a fallacy because it does not exist in reality. No two players will ever have all things equal.

then why compete at all..its all competition getting in..staying in...WC spots..finals spots....and yes between members there can be things very equal.. I personally have made those decisions who gets in and who doesnt and there can be alot to weigh to each person. If all things seem equal then the member IF in good standing, then they get the spot.

As far as reality. you do remember we are talking drum corps right?lol

welcome to Planet Earth. that happens in all phases of life.

those trying to reach utopia are doomed to fail.

That is why I do not believe in the phrase "all things being equal"; and I do not believe in Utopia within this temporal life here on this planet.

Competition is a great tool to improve skills by challenging each other to overcome harder and harder obstacles. A baseball hitter becomes better when challenged by better and better pitchers, and a pitcher becomes increasingly better when challenged by better and better batters. And drum corps not only teaches music skills but character skills on how to apply that process to whatever field of study or occupation they chose in the adult life.

and todays drum corps also teaches we all cant do everything, we all cant win...we all may NOT be able to do this activity or afford it. So much for the way drum corps was..its gone and thats it. Many things are so time to move on and not dream how things were or could still be like it was...never!

What's the rule that limits the number of WC corps to its present number?

Could it be that the biggest inhibitor to an OC corps advancing to WC is that the DCI BOD doesn't want to split the financial pie among a greater number of WC participants?

If the OC sheets are different than WC, how is an OC corps expected to "beat" a lower-placing WC corps and replace them in the WC ranks? Wouldn't they have to be judged by the same standards on the field to have a chance at knocking out, and replacing, the lowest-placing WC corps?

As far as I know there is no WC number limit; it is just based on who the existing member corps want to allow into their clubhouse.

> Could it be that the biggest inhibitor to an OC corps advancing to WC is that the DCI BOD doesn't want to split the financial pie among a greater number of WC participants?

If that was the case corps like Cascades, Teal Sound, and Jersey surf would not have been allowed in by the WC club members.

All corps were judged using equal WC sheets on Thursday Prelims where one WC corps, Pioneer, was knocked out of the Friday Prelims by the OC corps Oregon Crusaders, SCV Cadets and BDB; and on Friday Cascades, Jersey Surf, and Teal Sound were all beat by at least one of those OC corps with BDB placing 19th above all of the aforementioned WC corps.

So this negates Guardling's contention that all OC corps would score waaayyyyyy lower on the WC sheets, yes?

BDB OC Finals 95.00 and WC Prelims 75.15

Oregon Crusaders OC Finals 94.70 and WC Prelims 73.35

SCV Cadets OC Finals 94.20 and WC Prelims 72.60

*** So, Guardling is correct in that OC corps score wayyyyyyy lower on the WC sheets.

Point conceded. And thanks for the education.
