barigirl78 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) At DCI championships.CROSSMEN director Mark Chambers was voted "DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR ". It would be nice if DCI would put this and other awards announced only at the show on their website. Not everyone was there. There's no reason people should be questioning that you are telling the truth. Edited August 12, 2008 by barigirl78 Quote
TerriTroop Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I have loved the Crossmen since my first exposure to corps - the same year I started marching - 25 years ago. (Oy!!!) I was a bit freaked when the move to San Antonio was announced for two reasons: 1. I was worried about Revolution. As Texas' only active "home grown" junior corps I was thrilled they have been able to hang in there. I'll be honest that I'm still worried about this because I know the history of junior corps in Texas has been rocky (at best) for both start-ups and transplants. That leads me to the next point... 2. Transplanting a corps here was risky. We know how it worked out for Hutch, and while that situation and Crossmen's situation were not the same, I couldn't help but worry. For now, I'm ecstatic to have both of these junior corps right in my back yard. Texas has plenty of talent to share with both of these corps plus any other corps out there. To the Crossmen: Great job this year! Quote
I play the baritone good Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I love the new Crossmen. I'll admit I've only been exposed to drum corps for the past 10 years so I don't know much about the "old school" Crossmen. I do, however, know all about Mark Chambers and the rest of his old Reagan staff and I love what he's been doing with the Crossmen these past couple seasons. I'm excited to see them in finals next year! I have no doubt that they'll be there. Hopefully they decide to use electronic instruments too... lord know Guidry is the best in the business when it comes to implementing electronics into a juicy wind book. I'm excited! Quote
shaners Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 i know... i forgot about electronics for 2009..... let the riots begin.... Quote

There's no reason people should be questioning that you are telling the truth. No need to get your feathers all ruffled. I wasn't sure if the OP was stating an opinion or fact, that's all. I didn't know DCI awarded such things officially. I wonder how close Fred Morris was in winning the title for bringing the Troopers from inactive in 2006 to semis in 2008. (Or did he win it last year?) Quote
