brown55061 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hopefully this isnt a repost but I havent been around the forum long... Everyone and their mother is posting their DCI favorites so I wanted to start another for us mad hackers. So what is your favorite DCI Div1 percussion feature/show. My toppers are Madison 1994 with the drumming on the cymbals and Madison 1995 (La Danza Pasillo) but really their entire shows in 94 & 95 were all about the battery. So what's your personal fav's? Perry S Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) 1978 and 1979 Spirit of Atlanta. More so 1979 (Devil went Down to Georgia). Still some of the sickest #### I've ever heard. Tight, clean and extremely hard technically. Edited January 5, 2009 by Perry S Quote
tommytimp Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 1978 and 1979 Spirit of Atlanta. More so 1979 (Devil went Down to Georgia). Still some of the sickest #### I've ever heard. Tight, clean and extremely hard technically. "Devil" was Spirit 80 and 81. Their solo in 78 and 79 was Wendy Carlos' "Geodesic Dances." All four good drumlines. Quote
Stryfe Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) My favorite features this year were... well, all the ones in my signature. Favoritism, maybe, but Phantom's was just intense, Cavies' was the highlight of their show, musically and visually, Madison's was also very intense and awesome, and the Bluecoats were just amazing -- whoever writes that book knows how to write very impressive licks that still groove, and it's very fun to listen to. I also liked Crown's. three Cavies ones I like: 2006 Cavies - This one really grew on me... I love the combination of the music and the footwork especially... it's simple crab stepping, but it goes so well. 2004 Cavies - very clever, if nonconventional... 2001 Cavies - snares with the hihats, tenors with the held cymbals, wow... took a very long time to grow on me but I love it to pieces 2003 Cadets also gets a mention, wow... very well written, and full of style. 2000 Cadets is mandatory. I feel guilty for only going back to 2000... but that's about all I got as far as my favorites. (also, I refuse to leave "drum break" as just a "drum break." My favorite pit run off the top of my head: 2007 Blue Devils. The smile afterward was great.) Edited January 5, 2009 by Stryfe Quote

DanjrusMcRynky Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 SCV 2005. The "gun" sounds made while still pertaining completely to the music were very cool. SCV 2000's "split" snare break was also very cool. Quote
