  1. For those of you interested, this myspace site has the entire Presidents repretoire on it. All we need is a few more performers and things will go well. Click on the link and enjoy! Dennis http://www.myspace.com/thepresidentsdrumbuglecorps
  2. I was very entertained by several of the other corps on that list. Yes, Carolina Crown is very entertaining. But, so Cavaliers' "Machine", Blue Coats' "Criminal", as well as others. For real entertainment, I miss Velvet Knights (1992), or some of the great Bridgemen shows. They both could add a little comedy, and great music. If they had today's drill, then you would have had the total package.
  3. What do you mean by that remark? If you are talking about the arrangements, maybe we wanted these selections to sound more 1980s than 2000s. Nothing is wrong with that. We are just hoping to be entertaining and get people interested in performing with the corps.
  4. I will be sending new mp3s to his site asap.
  5. Joshua, I hope so. I don't mind arranging for them, but I really want to see and hear it on the field.
  6. Hey Paul, I sincerely hope so too. How many shows have I arranged for them and yet they haven't made it to the field? I really hope this is the year because Bill has tried so very hard to make it happen. I really don't know how many more shows I want to write and then not have them performed. Take care, Dennis
  7. So do I. But, I haven't received any recordings as of yet. I've been told that they are looking at putting some stuff up on myspace or youtube in the very near future. That is all the information I have since I live in Texas. Dennis
  8. For those inquiring minds, here is an mp3 of the Presidents 2008 opener: "Exodus". The corps is working really hard to make it back to the competition field. We've come up with a repretoire that should be both entertaining and fun to perform. We still have openings in most sections. Contact Bill Clendenon at bacplus2000@yahoo.com if interested. Enjoy! Exodus
  9. Going back several years ago, there was the 1977, 78, and 79 seasons when Phantom Regiment kept getting second place. I feel that Phantom should have won at least one of those years. Both Blue Devils and SCV were excellent, but I feel that Phantom should have won at least once. I think 1978 and 79 were probably their best 2 years of the 3.
  10. Several of you have stated that you liked Madison's 99 "Jesus Christ Superstar" show. I agree that it is a great show. How many of you have heard the Geneseo Knights' 1985 version. With a small hornline (about 36 horns), they did an awesome job with some great arrangements by Gregg Neulieb and Larry Kerschner. A bit different than Madison's. If they would have had a large hornline, it was a show that could have been in finals. IMHO. BTW, I'm partial to the Knights show since I was on the brass staff at that time.
  11. I totally agree on the nomination of Marty Hurley. Way over due! Nothing against Scott, but Marty had been around the activity for a long time and has really paid his dues.
  12. I definitely believe that Marty Hurley, former percussion arranger/composer for Phantom Regiment, as well as several other great corps should be in the DCI Hall of Fame. Dennis
  13. Jeff was drum major in both 1979 and 1980. He played baritone before that in the A corps 75-78. He was drum major when I marched in 1979.
  14. I always like the Freelancers. Why did the corps fold in the first place? Dennis
  15. Go Presidents!!! I really want to see the corps make it to the field this year. I think the music book is going to be great! Just need some more players to make it top notch. Good luck!
  16. Yes, its the one and same selection. I will post a recording of it with percussion on my website when the percussion parts are finished. The website is www.denniseveland.com Dennis
  17. I have to add Jerry Noonan (sp.) from North Star (1979-80)
  18. I just wanted to clarify the selections being played by the Presidents. Their show will include: Exodus Frankenstein When I fall in Love and possibly Dixie/Rocky Top (medley) and/or Shenandoah. I hope this helps set their selections straight. Dennis
  19. 1979 SCV...........bottle dance 1980 Spirit..........hitting the company front in "Let it Be Me" 1983 Bridgemen.............."Black Market Juggler" (what a drumline!) 1983 Garfield...........Z pull 1979 Phantom.............Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral 27th Lancers (any year)...........playing "Danny Boy" and, 2006 Cavaliers "Machine".............the ending
  20. I think they should keep their current staff. They had an excellent program........I think it was just a tough year with a lot of great visual shows. Mitch Rogers deserves to remain as their visual designer. He is very very creative.
  21. Overrated- Blue Devils, Spirit, Blue Knights Underrated- Blue Stars, Bluecoats Blue Devils just didn't do it for me. Spirit was just ok and Blue Knights was boring. Blue Stars were much better than 13th. They should have been in finals. Great show with sophistication. Bluecoats should have been top 3. I loved the "Criminal" concept. Very entertaining and competitive. Just my 2 cents worth.
  22. I actually liked when Rita Moreno was with Reliable Rondo. She really showed how excited she was about the performances. Very sincere reactions. That was 1980.
  23. Phantom- bring back "New World Symphony" Blue Devils- Music of Stan Kenton Cavaliers- "Celebration Symphony" (original by R. Saucedo) to celebrate their anniversary. Madison- "Latin and the Sorceror", "Malaga", and "The Way we Were"
