  1. I generally don't use words that need a filter, so I don't know what's acceptable around here. No insult or injury was intended.
  2. Yeah . . . I haven't been able to access DCI.org for the past hour. Needless to say, I'm uber-######.
  3. I know. It's just frustration. It's not working for me or any of my local friends. I can't believe I'm missing/missed Madison <**>
  4. www.dci.org will not load. http://seasonpass.dci.org will not load. Nothing from DCI.org is loading for me! What the !#$%?
  5. Yeah, but this is a discussion about The Cadets (not the rest of DCI), and you implied they were classier than Hrothgar's posts. I was just pointing out that their behaviour at San Antonio toward the Cavies and BD was nowhere near classy.
  6. What of reports I've heard from friends this year saying that The Cadets sat on their hands at the end of another corps' performance while they were in the stands? I'd say refusing to clap for the sake of looking rigid is fairly unclassy.
  7. Can you explain the huge volume change in the Blue Devils' Space Music then? There's no dynamic change written into the music; it simply goes from dissonance to a tuned chord.
  8. Any particular reason you'd care to back that up with, or should we just take your word for it?
  9. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't pure and clean actually enhance the emsemble's volume? If this is the case, then less junk = more volume. So that leads me to believe they're not playing full out, but rather controlled.
  10. This one might need explaining for some people, but I thought you guys would get a kick out of it:
  11. At the November & December camps, Matt reported 17 or 17.5 as the average age, Caroline. I remember, because I wrote it down in an email to my director when I returned home.
  12. First of all, sure why not? Second of all . . . one line in the whole show is a bit different from several lines and a singer. At least with less you can miss it if you aren't paying close enough attention.
  13. I'll walk to Madison in order to buy five shirts if they drop them including in the ballad :D
  14. "An offer they can't refuse" Something tells me they will anyway.
  15. I can only assume that Celestial Night is indeed the part being referred to.
  16. I am one who loves the lyrics to SSB, but I've always found the music that accompanies them to be . . . well, just plain not-patriotic. I'm not saying "unpatriotic," I just mean that it doesn't evoke any real emotion in me. That's a sad thing, because it's very hard for any music to leave me unaffected. That being said, I have heard some vocal and instrumental performances that do give it justice, but even these leave me feeling as if it fell just short of being great. Honestly, the most reaction I've ever gotten to the anthem's music was Star '92's quote in their closer, but even then I think it may have been more the shear power of the corps than the music itself. I know it's not what most people like or think, but I don't think that the musical portion of our anthem does the lyrics justice.
  17. First thing I thought upon hearing it was that it would fit very well in the 007 show from two years ago. They sound great; I can't wait to see the show. Only 12 mellos with 24 trumpets and baris/euphs though? Makes me sad . . . but I'm biased.
  18. How exactly did SCV get the 'copter effect in '91?
