  1. Yeah, and a Saturday and SUNDAY according to what they were saying...how wierd is that?
  2. oh yeah, me too. That show brought tears to my eyes- there was so much emotion in it. Being a Cavie fan from way back, it was sweet.
  3. Not a big Cadets fan this year, but NEVER count them out the last 2 weeks of thbe season. They have it down to a science. Bluecoats fans may not like that answer but it's true. I just hope everybody gets what they deserve, that's all.
  4. How bout SCV's "Not the Nutcracker"? Gosh, that was a long time ago...
  5. of all time???? Wow. Have to say anytime 27 did the big revolving company front in Danny Boy would be one. The Z- pull and and its various incarnations from the Cadets. The cross in the Star of Indiana show was pretty special too. There are so many-
  6. Oh, that it could come true... that would be great!
  7. I was all prepared to hate this show, and I have to say I didn't HATE it. There's actually some good stuff in there. So I guess that's kind of a backhanded compliment.
  8. And yeah....Not the Nutcracker, hate to say, was just not right. OH OH OH!!!! Two Spirit shows....one was their 1985 show. Petrouchka. AAAAAAAACK!! REALLY bizarre music to my ears. And then the year they did that Intergalactic Whatsit Music. WTF??? There's bizarre for you. I agree, def a few of the MOST bizzare. The ones that when they're done you say-- WHAT was that? Oh, by the way I think you're referring to Interstellar Suite, not a bad piece, but they murdered it.
  9. 1992 Cadets guard was pretty scary. I remember it blew me away back then, left me weak.
  10. loved 1992- Perilous Skies, thats my hands down pick. There were other shows I really enjoyed that didn't win like Les Miz, whatever that year was. 95 American Quintet was a personal favorite too. Some of their biggest wins I never really cared for the show, but I always have a healthy respect for them, you can't argue the quality.
  11. wow, how to pick one? 1982, 86, 1994... I could go on.
  12. Oh, 88 for sure. They really took a chance with that show. Besides, I loved that bluesy feel. I really liked the look too with the grey, and the girls in those elegant dresses.
  13. Finleyville Royal Crusaders had a dance feature in their "Chorus Line" show in 76 (I think it was). Thats the first I can remember actual dance on the field. There were "dances" but they were pretty much still crisp military moves before that. Anyway, that was about the time guard started to change from precision to interpretation.
  14. I agree- can't say I loved it when I first saw it in 92, but by the end of the season they had made a believer out of me. I think its one of the best pieces they ever did. I like them best when they take a chance and do something "out there". It's one of my all time favorites. I can still see that guard feature at the end ... clean as a whistle, with those "clouds" silks. Gives me goosbumps to think of it.
  15. I like tradition as well as the next guy, but how about something NEW? A little innovation never hurt anybody. There is tons of music out there- why rehash the same old stuff?
  16. Can't remember what year but some old lady asked what corps was coming on the field and she was told " it's the Sabian's". Almost fell off my seat.
  17. I liked the Cavies show better, but Cadets performed theirs better. And isn't that what its all about?
  18. I agree -88 & 89 in Kansas City were two of the best years. Good location - centrally located. Nice town too. Since it wasn't one of the choices I voted for Uni of MD, at least it's close for me.
  19. For me: 1.- Phantom 2.- Cavies 3.- Cadets 4.- Crown 5.- Boston Honorable mention to Mandarins.
