  1. We had all of the brass equipment. The guard was able to borrow some flags from a local band program for rehearsal today and the front ensemble was also able to go to that school to rehearse on their boards. The equipment did arrive in Rochester safely and we were able to run quite the productive ensemble rehearsal at I & Es this evening to make up for today's missed ensemble time. We are looking forward to tomorrow.

  4. We can't wait for you all to get here as well. I will most likely be around your rehearsal quite a bit while you are being hosted at Webster High School. If there is anything that you need or anywhere you need to know, let me know at any point and I will be glad to assist. Very excited that you guys are coming over. I know how great we felt (98 Empire) coming over to your side of the big pond. It truly was an experience I will never forget and I hope the same for you all. Safe travels and see you in Webster!!!
  5. And if my memory serves me right, right in the middle of that pack of Cadets was George Hopkins himself looking entirely impressed. That was one of my favorite drumcorps moments was watching the DCI kids and their staffs just outside our fenced in area looking at us like where did these guys come from. quote name='markdewine' date='Apr 27 2010, 02:05 PM' post='2777053'] Does anyone remember the "Tie-breaker" show in Buffalo in 2001? Cadets vs Cavaliers, and Brigs vs Empire. Well, in addition to the contest being judged, there was a fan poll for "Favorite Corps in tonite's show" (more on that in a second) So the Brigs won the senior portion of the show, and I think the Cavaliers won the junior portion. Our corps was at the gate ready to come back on the field for a victory concert, and we were told by the DCI official running the show, that we would not be allowed to do our victory concert. When our corps director asked why, this DCI official ranted on and on angrily that, "If I have anything to say about it...a DCA corps will never follow a DCI corps on the field!!! Ever again!! There's NO WAY your corps was tonight's best corps!!!" (etc., etc.) The Brigadiers turned their corps around and went to the nearby tennis courts and set up in concert formation. Along one fenceline of the tennis court was a long line of Cadets. The Green Machine lined the fence that was perpendicular to the Cadets. Then, the Brigs proceeded to rip the faces off our DCI spectators!!! As a member of the Honor Guard, I was positioned where I could see the expressions on the faces of the Cavies and Cadets. Let's just say there was no mistaking the fact they were impressed. After our concert, ALL of their comments were complimentary. I remember thinking that if the members of the two best DCI corps think were pretty good, well then we must not be TOO bad. LOL So, as far as DCI / DCA interaction...Draw your own conclusion.
  6. Funny, I can play an F mello just as loud and a lot more in tune than I ever could on G bugle! Just sayin' Not a jab just a fact!
  7. I beleive a few years ago you received the Crusader Hall of Fame. I know the corps is in the process of getting something together for the alumni and current membership alike. A way of intoducing and reliving the old and new of the Crusaders.
  8. I personally would love to see all the local corps put in a few $ each so that next year we can see it named "Drum Corps Stadium". Just my 2 cents!
  9. This was a great time. All the corps sounded wonderful. Boston Crusaders Sr impressed me with the loudness and quality. Wow guys and girls great job. Citations are off to another great start this season. Boston Crusaders Jr.... Wow great show concept for you guys. The music is great and you were on fire Saturday night. Your tenor line is on fire... and the rest of the drumline is pretty bad a@@ as well. Best of luck to you all this coming season and I hope to get a chance to see you all before the season is over. Your friend from the Crusaders of the Rochester variety
  10. Was in Auburn last week selling program ads and the buzz around town is fantastic. A lot of old drum corps fans out there that are excited to have a show in their backyard. Get your tickets now as this is going to be a great show at a fantastic venue with great drum corps fans. www.crowntickets.com
  11. It's going to be great to see some Rochester Crusaders Alumni making us proud in their Junior corps endeavors as well. Cam and Megan with Boston Crusaders and Caleb at Citations. Not to mention our very own colorguard designer Sarah Cole on Boston Crusaders Staff. this is going to be fun weekend and good luck to all the performers. See you on Saturday!
  12. Make that 3 and if anyone knows anyone hiring in the rochester ny area please let me know as there is an extreme shortage of positions here with the aveage job posting getting upwards of a thousand applications.
  13. I know I can speak from Rochester that both corps are still trying to thaw out stand up straight from the cold and wind this weekend. Good things from both sides or so I'm hearing.
  14. Only 2 days left. Kids sounded great last night and are very excited to put their show out to the public this weekend. Be there and help support them.
  15. I know the Webster kids are ready, Crusaders are ready and I'm sure all the other performers are ready as well. Are you ready for a great variety show for a great purpose? Then get on down to Webster Schroeder High School this Saturday night for a night of great music for a great cause..... The Webster High School Marching Band!
  16. I know the Webster kids are excited about this upcoming performance. Come on down for a great night of music at the Webster Schroeder High School Auditorium.
  17. Thanks for the great review of the show. As for this comment: They must have been working out in the sun all day as a couple of the girls in the pit were sporting what looked like some pretty serious sun burn. Ouch!" Yeah we wanted to be outside and I guess I'm paying the price today for that. Who thought I'd need some sunscreen in April. It's okay though that's what drum corps is about....... Good Music, Great People and awkward tanlines that you need to explain to non drum corps people. On a plus side I can now show my high school band kids exactly why I always say wear sunscreen. It's not soo bad though. The tan will just come earlier this season! Glad you made it down and hopefully you'll be able to come to a few more shows and provide some more great reviews. I personally heard a bit of Ghost Riders and MSJ and all I can say is wow. Ghost, you guys and girls are doing a great job this year. Rod and Doug are providing you all with an amazing product that you should be proud of. St Joes, Caught the last 2-3 songs and wow you have always been loud but boy did that go to another level in the last tune. Great work. You sounded amazing. Keep up the great work! Okay now to go get some more aloe and try to sleep tonight.
  18. The Rochester Crusaders are looking forward to the Classic the end of this month. We are honored to be invited to this event once again and also honored to be part of the first year of this being dedicated to a great man. We look forward to seeing all the groups in this event especially St Joes as we have been hearing great things about how this year is coming. See you all on the 25th.
  19. Just received the confirmation from Ghost Rider Co Director Rod Keppel that the Ghost Riders will in fact be at The Webster Rhythm and Brass Show on May 2nd. We look forward to their performance as well as the performances of all the participants.
  20. They have been listed in the performance since this was first proposed and have committed to doing this concert. If something has changed we have not been advised and have already advertised numerous places that they will be there. It would be great to know if they in fact have pulled out.
  21. This was advertised in Drum Corps Planet as well as the many bulletin boards on the local news stations, in the newpaper and many local businesses. However, with that being said, here is the plug for our next one: Webster Schroeder High School Auditorium May 2nd at 7pm. Featuring: Prime Time Brass; Ghost Riders; Towpath Fife and Drum Corps, The Rochester Crusaders and the hosts Webster Marching Band. Special performance to be announced at a later date. Tickets: $8 adult available from any Webster Marching band member, at Hegedorns in Webster and Vicomp Graphics in the Village of Webster. More information can be found at www.rochestercrisaders.org
  22. Yes this is at the East Rochester High School. Here is the address: 200 Woodbine Ave East Rochester, NY 14445 Make sure you don't type in just East High school because that will take you on quite the scenic route to some very "interesting" parts of Rochester! Look forward to seeing everyone there tomorrow. Safe trips to the Capitol Brass people. Glad you're coming!
  23. Allie, Check with Carol this weekend. She's got a great story about the marines you might want to include. See you Saturday
