  1. I hate to post "me too" but....me too. Jazz piano...hmm...Age of Anxiety, anyone?
  2. How about Phantom Regiment? Most downloaded audio from 2008 (which is pretty obvious to see why; they were champions and their show was pretty kick ### musically), 2nd and 5th most downloaded of the legacy corps audio, and 2nd most downloaded video. I'm predicting that 2008 Phantom will become the most downloaded show ever when it is put up after next season. It's such a historic show in terms of Phantom winning a solo title, and it has been hyped a lot (not necessarily saying the hype isn't deserved).
  3. DCI has posted a list of the top 5 downloads on their website. I think it is pretty interesting. The biggest thing to note is that out of the top 5 Legacy collection downloads (1972-2007) only one is not from 2007. Also, in the top 5 video performance downloads, only one (1989 Vanguard) is not from the 2000s. These Fan Network downloads cost money, so maybe this goes against people saying that the "Legacy" fans are the ones that actually spend money on the activity? It's not like older fans don't buy the recent shows, but a lot of people have argued here on DCP that "modern" drum corps turns longtime fans off and they presumably don't want to download the performances. Just throwing it out there as a possibility.
  4. I would kindof like to see a corps use a MiniMoog. That would be sweet.
  5. Ahh I'm so glad the sometimes unreliable typing on my laptop keyboard has given rise to a DCP meme.
  6. They'd have to keep the dissonant mello runs at the end, though--my mind mentally inserts them when I listen to the original.
  7. Speaking of which, I'd like to see the shows The Cadets would have done in 2008 and 2009 before they went to The Pursuit of Happiness and Lenny
  8. Heh. So true. Say all you want about The Cadets, but they really challenge and stretch their members.
  9. Thriller. Make it theatrical. Base it off the music video. Seriously.
  10. Several corps (Glassmen, BAC) have cracked the top 6 and then dropped back into the back of the top 12. Bluecoats need to prove that they are different and that they can place 5th or 4th or even higher on a consistent basis.
  11. 1) CBC 2) BD 3) PR 4) Cavies 5) SCV 6) Crown 7) Blue Stars 8) Boston 9) luecoats 10) BK 11) Madison 12) Glassmen
  12. The Cadets need to prove that they can consistently produce championship-caliber corps in design AND execution. I'd say anyone that places in the top 3 has championship caliber design and/or execution; obviously it only works out for one corps (unless there is a tie) but I'd say generally that the top 3 are "championship calibre," either winning or strongly in the running. In the last 5 seasons they have placed 4 1 5 2 5. Big swings from year to year, lack of consistency. In the 5 years before that they placed 4 1 2 2 3 and the five years before that they were 2 2 3 2 1. Saying the same thing a different way, their average placement from 1994 to 1998 (inclusive) was 2, from 1999 to 2003 was 2.4 and from 2004 to 2008 was 3.4. So they need to prove, in the next few seasons, that they can still produce drum corps of the highest quality every single year. Phantom needs to prove that 2008 was not a flash in the pan and that they have the quality of membership and show design to be in the running for the title every single year. Consistent top 3 placements and shows and performances that push what people expect from PR to a new level. Since 2003 the corps has done a good job and they need to prove that they can keep it going and take it to the next level. Bluecoats need to prove that they are legitimate members of the top 5 club, though with their staff changes I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop to 7th-9th in the midst of intense competition.
  13. I prefer red Xmen especially after seeing the head to head pictures.
  14. Yea, the execution was really sub-par. Though "par" for Cadets is pretty good.
  15. I'd just like to call it right now that this Phantom of the Opera II is going to be terrible. That said, a really aggressive, in your face, "modern old-school" interpretation of Phantom of the Opera by SCV could be ok.
  16. But seriously folks, a wall of awesome sound should be pretty much expected when you're listening to a BD recording
  17. Ahh this is great. I hope they used a lot of synths and the DCP community goes nuts this summer.
  18. SCV has used amplification since 2004....
