  1. Nice! Darrell Cox, Rob Carson, Steve Choarzy, I believe.
  2. Thank you for the quote, Kev...very thorough. I loved the '80 State of the Art recording and was at first disappointed with the changes. However, the final show was awesome! One of my favorite shows to date! '80 SCV was by far one of the most innovative shows on the field. The judges didn't quite get it, though!
  3. Hey Tiff! Miss you and all! I can't wait to check out the corps. It will be so weird to be on the side lines this year, almost unbearable. :) My drum sticks really wanted to be there, but my mom demands my attention. C-ya soon, Kell
  4. The warm-ups, (ya, right, NOT!), and performing at DCA 2006 was my all time worst drum corps experience ever, even worse than taking 2nd place, DCI, '81. A third would be fending off the mosquitos and humidity on tour. Rain drops skipping on your drum head makes for such a beautiful sound!
  5. In '81 while doing physical warm ups in Allentown at practice, I kept shooing an unknown bug away and it just didn't dawn on me that it was a bee. It did a nose dive to my inner thigh. So, I missed the first block of rehearsal...not allergic as I found out since it was my first bee sting.
  6. You will be missed too! Hopefully, later on in the year I can do something with the Renegades!
  7. Okay, so, if mom gets better, if I can get the time off for DCA and L.A., if I can get my boyfriend to march and be able to march next to him, if I can learn drum parts by the March or April camp, (drumming with Slater will help), if the snare line/staff lets me in, if the drum line wears fadora's, if the snare line has cymbal rides, BUT, last but not least, if Sara is my cymbal player, I'll march, baby!
  8. Most likely not...mom still needs my assistance and it's VERY difficult to get away evenings. I will miss having a Margarita with you and Vickie!
  9. I wish that I can march this year just so I can wear the fadora! I love those hats and wish they would come back in style for the guys!
  10. Didn't Mike play snare drum in '75 or one of those early years? Hi Mike and Vickie!
  11. Happy B'day! May your "New Year" be as happy as possible! I'll never forget when you recognized me at 2006 DCA I&E when I was SO lost and, I thought, running late! You were my "angel" and led to where I needed to go...Stay strong and courageous!
  12. Great topic! I'm learning so much about some great instructors and love hearing how each affected one's outlook on drumming as a whole. Of course, we tend to gear toward those who have personally influenced our drumming careers and like I said in a similar topic long ago, there are so many that I could name. Narrowing it down, the guy who really pushed me in the beginning and made me strive to want to get better, (ultimate goal, to play snare drum), was a guy in SCV's bass line, early 70's, Kent Cahill. Man, he was such an inspiration, but one whom you did not want to disappoint! Secondly, was Dale Lofgren, Kingsmen, SCV '75 snare drummer who pushed chops and if it weren't for his drive and fun personality, I may have never had the chance to be taught by Terry Shalberg, Scott Johnson and Tom Float. I have such high regards for these teachers and appreciated their professionalism and respect for each player. Tom, in particular, would ask the line for their input when changing parts, etc. Man...what a joy to be around!
  13. A good friend of mine, (Robbie Robinson, former solo snare champion, Crossmen/BD snare section leader and Reading Bucs teacher/performer). shared with me the history and awesomeness of the story and music of this film and his very positive reaction/sentiment in viewing this movie. I look seeing it tomorrow/today!
  14. Thank you DCA for continuing this tradition! It was a great feeling, however, when the drum corps accented the "A" Party down the fifty, so patriotic and so drum corps and less theatrical. Keep stage productions on the stage!
  15. This REALLY helped the night go by quickly! However, when that wasn't the case, I slept under the seats or in the isle. Vertical positioning was just not my forte! Wherever I could get horizontal, it happened at the expense of dirt flying off of shoes when people passed by, or suffocation under the seats, esp. at the higher altitudes. The air conditioning made me itch badly at times, albeit, it was a blessing most of the time.
  16. Brian Downing is an absolute wonderful person and musician. I marched with him for two years. Hee made me feel so comfortable in my first year marching in a drum and bugle corps. (Prior, I marched in the "drum and drill circuit" in Nor Cal which was limited in performances, albeit , my "I & E" was judged by Scott Johnson and many of the DCi judges!) Brian is/was one of our proud servicemen and I would like to thank him for protecting our Country! Love you!
  17. Shirley always seemed upbeat, but strict; her highs were highs and her lows were lows! Her daughter, (Kathy?) was also a judge and seemed more brutal...but all in all, the Whitcombs were cool!
  18. I'm not good at predictions, but I sure would love to see SCV in the top three!
  19. Hey Lee! I'll email you soon on that! I thought that Paul wrote insane exercises! Thom is radical!
  20. Hey! I'm an identical twin, (three minutes apart), and might be classified as a midget, (5'3) to some that I've marched with who were well over six feet! Sis and I can be a lot of fun, but all she can play are quarter note paradiddles!
  21. Lest I forget to share his name! Dennis Mancini.
