  1. (Better late than never!) Congrats to the Cavaliers for a job WELL DONE - and welcome to the august fraternity of alumni corps...
  2. That's a great photo showing classic drum and bugle corps style! (I can't remember a cadet uniform I didn't like...)
  3. Where and when? BTW - Kingsmen didn't field in '75.... (and, I think Mambo got used at least a couple of years, '74 first)
  4. Eh - it HAS a soul....its just that DCI is not the protector, defender nor respository of it (unless there's a buck in it)...
  5. Anaheim Kingsmen uniform. Bob marched in the Kingsmen Alumni Corps at the 2007 DCI Semi-finals, too (as a cymbalist) ...that announcer makes me want to take a shower to get the slime off...
  6. Everybody's experience is different. I'd have to say that overall, for me the drum corps experience was a very Godless environment (and I did my part). ...my kids will never march junior corps.
  7. Eh, I think I can safely say, we're supportive of all the great alumni corps activities....post on....
  8. You're posting about bass-baritones here....(plain) baritones actually sounded more like tenor trombones (when you could hear them)...
  9. Will there be vids available?
  10. Tony: your story is inspirational! Thanks for posting it. I ran 1/2 marathons in my 30s (a cross country runner in HS), and got whipped regularly by guys that were (I estimate) 65-80 years old! My point being, if someone has no major medical problems, follows a healthful diet and gets in shape, there are many fewer limitations than many people seem to accept... Keep it up, all of you, and best of luck! BTW, I'm running again, with my 16 yo son, to toughen him up for fencing, and me for whatever...
  11. If they "outlaw" the Getzens and the chrome bumpers, they'll do fine....the more Ultratones they use, the better they'll do....
  12. For the new guy.... The 2007 Anaheim Kingsmen Alumni Corps average age was 49....we had a very few sons/daughters marching who were early-20's down, but some members pushing 70....I'd say most were 45-55.... I have heard some of the drummers talk (now, after the fact) about how tough it was to march a full field show... ...our 15 snares were Kmen alumni from '71-'76 (IIRC)....so no 40 yr olds there... ....and, as you can see, we marched tymps, too... http://www.coloneljake.com/BAM1BAM/AK2007/ ....I'd have to say, a lot of this is all about a burning desire to march again....
  13. They were the G-horn-playing Jr corps who performed at our Kingsmen Invitational last Aug 8 in Long Beach! Good kids....
  14. The above is exactly parallel to the Kingsmen Alumni Corps tymp story... ...great minds, and all that...
  15. Kool pics! I especially like seeing the Alumni carrying tymps!! Hope you have a great Reunion event...
  16. Apparently from your perspective as one of the VK-diehard Kingsmen-haters who hasn't matured in 35 years, you would prefer to suppress the historical facts that the Anaheim Kingsmen achieved much more DC success than the VK ever did. The Kingsmen were better - grow up and deal with it. BTW, when you're done throwing rocks, maybe you'll regale us with tales of the VKs stunning leadership(s). Never was any dissention or controversy there, was there?
  17. Why, Sam? Because I'm a Kingsman. Because I want 128 bodies in blue cadets. Because I want 64 horns (but I'll settle for 40 first year). Because I want a full Kingsmen drumline. Because I want a strong Kingsmen Color Guard. It's IMPOSSIBLE to win the shooting contest, if one doesn't shoot for the bullseye. I don't want 40, but feel free to shoot for 40 if you want to.
  18. Sam: I'm the primary party who posted "our" goals and expectations, and I'm just a marching member, not a KAC official. My posts were premature....but not delusional... Sam: apples and oranges, eh? "We" are hardly a startup corps, and "we" DID march 141 horns and 286 members, so _I_ had a basis to forecast, yes? KAC DID produce pretty much what it said it would.... Without validating the 12 horns number, or talking about Renegades whatsoever....let me tell you where _I'm_ coming from. I have lots of things to do in my life. The last 3 years, I've said repeatedly that it took the Kingsmen to get me to march and play again. 20 horns on the field wouldn't be the Kingsmen TO ME or motivate ME to march (but that's some of my baggage from Jr corps days....I left 17 horns and friends in my age-out year so that I could be a Kingsman). So, with my limited time, I do it reasonably "big", or I don't do it... Others are free to follow their own muses, with or without my blessings....
  19. Yes, thanx. The host provider pulled an unscheduled outage of service, and also the forums were hacked and viruses inserted. The sparks remaining from our Kingsmen heritage were fanned by the creation of the Kingsmen Alumni Corps .... That fire has not yet gone out of the universe....
  20. This is great drum corps history. Anybody that puts out a 25-man hornline and does the job, has my total respect!

    I&E

Where would a body find that worthy recording??
  22. OK, that leaves Anaheim Kingsmen out of the "reunion" corps label....there is no way we would have allowed just "anyone" to be a member....in fact, we declined several applicants...
