  1. Uhhhhh....it happened to Bluecoats last year...and the bottom 6 didn't get longer clips...and this years bottom 4 won't get longer clips. All corps work their tails off...and SCV is not superior to any of them. Just because they usually rank in the top 4 doesn't mean they get special privileges.
  2. I was about ready to post a bunch of angry stuff....until I saw that you were kidding........
  3. It feels like Gordon Goodwin because Gordon Goodwin helped arrange the music....I would like to see them do a show like that too...or is they just played some Gordon Goodwin music that would be cool too.
  4. 2005 - Don't know yet (I need to see the Cadet's show first...and the visual part of all the shows) 2004 - Bluecoats and Madison 2003 - Madison 2002 - Cavaliers 2001 - Cavaliers 2000 - Cavaliers 1999 - Madison and SCV 1998 - Madison 1997 - Madison 1996 - Madison 1995 - Madison and Cavaliers 1994 - Madison 1993 - Madison 1992 - Madison and VK 1991 - Star of Indiana 1990 - Don't know 1989 - SCV and PR 1988 - Madison and VK 1987 - Madison
  5. SCV won't be featured because they finished 9th at Semis. The broadcast follows the order of the Semifinals scores (which is how it took place "live" on Finals night), and it was like that last year even though the Bluecoats beat Crown. Just because it is SCV doesn't mean they walk on water and get to be featured even though they didn't place in the top 8 in semis. I've been waiting since 2002 (the year I discovered DCI) to see longer clips for the Madison Scouts...and finally I get to see them. I was always happy when I got to see a 30 second clip of the Scouts...so you shouldn't feel you have to boycott the program.
  6. 1989 SCV 1991 Star of Indiana 1995 Madison Scouts I picked these because they were some of my favorite emotional performances. 1996 PR goes into honorable mention.
  7. 92-96 Madison Scouts 95-99 Madison Scouts :) I found 8 consecutive years where I liked all the shows..but I can't find 5. Most of the Cavaliers shows in the last 5 years have been good...as well as the Bluecoats and Cadets. 1. '95 2. '92 3. '97 4. '99 5. '94 6. '96 7. '93 8. '98
  8. Oh ****....that is our marching band's trumpet motto (except it is higher, louder, faster)...and I hate our lead trumpets when they stand in front of a cd player and TRY to play like Maynard Ferguson....it was really annoying yesterday when we got a day off in jazz band and 2 trumpets are next to the CD player screeching while a record is playing on the other side of the room and you are trying to listen to your friends talk....but I like them personally...just not their Maynard wannabe attitudes. As far as what the Scouts should play in 2006...Anything other than something from their 2000-2003 shows would work (I liked Captain from Castille in 1987, but not 2002). As long as it is entertaining I really don't care what they play. I usually always love a Madison Scouts' show...so I just hope they get an even better one next year.
  9. There are many "groovy" moments in almost all the DCI shows that I like but the one that sticks out right now is 1993 Madison Scouts during the drumbreak in Strawberry Soup. There is one at the end of the Bluecoats 2004 show and a few Blue Devils shows (including this years), a few Cavaliers shows, but most of mine come from Madison Scouts' shows I think.
  10. On the Blue Devils Suggestion....it's Buddy RICH...not Rick...but I would love to hear some of that music played by them.
  11. In order.... 1. VK 2. Star 3. Suncoast 4. Bridgemen 5. Freelancers
  12. agreed...I thought they were very good for a 13th place show
  13. F*** YEAH!!!----1992 Velvet Knights...man that had me cracking up every time I heard it during a completely silent part of the show.
  14. Personally...I thought the show was actually pretty good...and I usually hate the Blue Devils (I liked last years show and this years...that's it!). I am not a fan of narration when it isn't done well...but the BDs narration doesn't bother me. I only have an APD from early June but they sound great (especially the beginning). The Narration doesn't bother me because the kid does a good job with it (except towards the end where a set of Yowzas didn't seem to fit). Musically...I thought the BD's were good...except the hornbook was a little easier than previous years. As far as show design goes...I don't know..but I always have thought that the BD's drill was pretty easy. Well anyway...this is coming from someone who has loathed the BDs until last year when I finally accepted them (they still are not my favorite and are behind MS, BLOO, PR, :) Velvet Knights, Star of Indiana :), Cavies, and Cadets on my favorites list)
  15. I'm guessing Cavies will win it all because of their consistency...if I had to pick favorites it would be Madison or the Bluecoats.
  16. I can't wait for the recaps...plus tomorrows scores.
  17. I absolutely hated this show! I LOVED their 1991 show...but 1993 didn't make any sense to me at all. I've only listened to this show probably 5 times (visual included) and I just gave up on trying to like it. The music was the worst part. I remember laughing at the video because it seemed like the whole crowed was confused (me also). Nobody knew when to clap...then they play loud for a few seconds and a few people are rooting for them...but the music was too spontaneous. There was almost never a middle level volume to the show...it eas either loud or soft...and it would abruptly change. If the show were titled "Journey Into the Mind of a Psychopathic Murderer" I would have understood it...because that's what the show made me think about. Musical Masterpiece? I think not. Worst show for its ranking....ABSOLUTELY!!! 1993 was a HUGE disappointment for me.
  18. NOOOO!!!! I LOVE MONTY PYTHON!!!! Our HS band was actually thinking about doing a Monty Python show...but our band is on a low budget and we wouldn't have been able to hire anyone to arrange the music. I would love to see a Monty Python and the Holy Grail show...it would be hilarious.
  19. I was just trying to annoy some people and get them to post ^0^ ....guess it worked
  20. I am going to say that somewhere between 1986 and 1991 was the peak (1987 seems to be a good answer as there were so many good shows that year). As I listen to the Glassmen's 2005 show...I can't help think that Phantom's 1989 show was so much more pleasant to listen to (uhhhgggg...the modernization has killed it). My favorite shows also seem to be from around that time (1987-Madison, Bluecoats; 1988-Madison, VK, Suncoast Sound; 1989-SCV, Phantom, Madison). Even the 12th place finishers seem to have a great sound that is better than some finalists we hear today. Dutch Boy...a 13th place finisher in 1988 still had a great sound. along with a strong brass and colorguard. I think we'll see more good periods like this (I think one might have started this year). Please remember this is just an opinion.
  21. Are you talking about the Cadets' fans?
  22. Yeah...I saw his avatar...but I wasn't sure if really did play Pee Wee in the show; I didn't want to believe it because he said he WOULD have joined...so I was a little thrown off. I never heard anyone say "Pee Wee" during the show though. (I wasn't there live...I wasn't even a full year old) Pee Wee Herman (Mike)
  23. Wow...I didn't know that was Pee Wee Herman b**bs. I used to watch that show all the time and yet I still didn't realize it was PWH. Thanks for saying that, or I might not have gotten it (I just thought it was some guy that wandered in on a bike...but now it makes more sense...I guess lol). I think I'm going to watch the video again.....
