  1. Look at the drum scores for Cadets for the back to back shows. 17.50-LA 16.70-MS Same judge. Interesting. But I'd like to think he might be calling it how he sees it each night, because look at the same judge 3 nights in a row doing the 'Coats 16.70-LA (Down .8 to Cadets) 17.10-MS (Up .4 to Cadets) 16.90- FL Boston was on a similar Yo-Yo in percussion. Spirit steadily rose. Read into it whatever you like.
  2. Actually I was thinking Bloomington.................
  3. Like I said before, lots of changes happened. And there are still a few things to be tweaked GE wise. http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...howtopic=114708 I love the new drums crashing the horn block thing. And the new drill for the fugue is impressive. To me the new ending needs to be longer and louder. Then a bit longer while playing louder. And then they finish it by playing louder. Just my 2 cents. -T.
  4. I'd imagine she'll be fine. Head wounds tend to bleed like crazy even when the injury itself is minor. I'd think she'd have to worry more about having a concussion than anything else.
  5. Like I said in my update, they weren't going to do well here. By next weekend they'll have had the time to get more reps in with the drill and the guard will have had time to get the end of the show down as well. Give it time. They'll be there. -Travis PS congrats to BAC for busting 80 and Crown for the win.
  6. That wouldn't hurt my feelings any. 12 Contras. I was very impressed for a Div II group.
  7. I envy you for getting to see them live so late in the season. My next viewing will be in the theaters for Quarterfinals.
  8. I was really impressed with Teal Sound when I saw them in Columbia, SC. Could they be the next Div 1 group?
  9. I just spent 2 days with the 'Coats in not so sunny Summerville, SC. That's just outside Charleston which is my home, FYI. I'm a bit of a homer since I spent 5 years there but I like to think that I'm calling it like I see it. They took the time to rewrite the last 3 rounds visually and tweak some horn stuff. (not the infamous water hose but some phrasing stuff for the new drill) I'm not a drum or guard guy so I didn't pay too close attention to what they were doing during sectionals. The first day was somewhat of a wash drill wise for them since a slow moving thunderstorm parked itself on top of the stadium most of the afternoon. The second day was near perfect with the only bad weather occurring at a meal so not too much time was lost. First some hornline observations. A lot of talent. More so than last year. A bunch of rookies. So many you could throw a stick and hit 2 or 3 every time. There is so much potential there. It's on the verge of being something really special. They'll be really good by the end, I'm not sure they have enough experience to be truly great. And when I say that, I'm talking about just the general experience of being able to buckle down, focus and push during the short run up to finals. They have the horses to do it, it's just a matter of whether they have the will to do it or not. Drill wise. I didn't get any time to see it from up top. But they did some really great things that have increased the accessibility of the show. Better staging for one. They have put one new move in that I can't wait to see from a high angle. Basically the horns are in a huge block and the drums form a wedge and plow through a horn block. The kids love the new drill. I got the impression that they are buying in to the increased potential this drill offers. I won't tip off some of the future stuff, but the staff says there will be a few things added to the show. (it helps learning about shows when you take the brass staff out and dump a few pitchers of beer down their throats after rehearsals) Overall this show is now a great vehicle for them. All they have to do is clean, clean, clean and add the last little bit of GE stuff. The overall attitude of the corps and staff is really positive and upbeat. They could place anywhere in that whole 4-7 pack. The Orlando show might not go as well for them as some would like, but once they get some more reps in with the new drill and gain confidence with it, they will be smoking at San Antonio. On a side note: My wife is a neophyte to DCI and loved the experience. We bought them pizza for dinner and had some cake and ice cream for the kids before they got onto the buses heading to Orlando. As far as the future goes: If a core group of these kids stick around for a few years I honestly believe a top 3 push is possible. The talent is top notch. If they can maintain their practice etiquette, mix it with some more experience and are given another top notch design....... -Travis 91-95 'Coats
  10. I'll be there tonight as well. Not too worried about rain. Even if it does, it will probably be the typical Southern afternoon 15 minute rain shower followed by just a touch of humidity. Well maybe more than a touch......... it is the Carolinas in the summer after all. After the show I get to take my corps back to Charleston for two days before they head to Orlando. Getting to spend 2 full days with them should be fun. And expensive, but hey, that's what good a good alumnus is supposed to do, right?
  11. Bluecoats 1995 Flag presentation to the "widow" BD 93(ish) Strawberry Soup the soloists towards the end, the unison 16th/triplet run thingy Madison 1995
  12. Everyone moved up a bit from Michigan City, except for the 2 corps that start with "Blue." Conspiracy in KY??????? //Sarcasm off
  13. Central / Eastern Blah Blah Blah, either way THE SCORES AREN'T UP. And I have score envy right now because of the VA show. Besides, when you live on the coast, everyone west of you is central.......... ; )
  14. Scores up already from VA. Dang Central time shows!!!!!!!!
  15. The Glassmen are staying in Pelion?!?!?!?!? Poor ########. The Bluecoats website still says North Augusta. Sooooooooooo who knows?
  16. I think the 'Coats are staying at North Augusta HS prior to the show. Then they are coming down to Summerville, SC after the show for 2 days. Luckily for me that is a whopping 10 minute drive from my house. -Travis 91-95 'Coats
  17. When was the last time the Troopers were 3 points out of Finals in July? I hope these spreads stick. It'll make Indy very enjoyable. (from the fan's perspective anyway.)
  18. The Bluecoats had a free day in Montreal one year. (1992ish) All those lovely French speaking girls...........They never made that mistake twice. Morale of the story: Never give an American Corps a free day where the drinking age is NOT 21. Rehearsal was not so good the next morning.
  19. South Carolina is now represented. Now we are ceding from this thread. #### the other posters have just forcibly brought us back into the thread. (Actually I'm a carpet bagger from Ohio, but I never miss a chance to poke fun at my adopted state) -Travis 91-95 'Coats
  20. Wow. What a treat. I'm in Afghanistan where the internet access is a bit sketchy. I get logged on and what do I see? BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One very proud alumni, Travis 91-95 'Coats
  21. Hopefully they'll be stable and touring. I wonder if they will still try to have some camps in Canada eventhough they'll be based in FL. -T.
  22. I joined the Naval Reserve after my second year at the Bluecoats. I actually scheduled boot camp for the off season so I wouldn't miss a summer. I then returned and marched my last 3 years. I switched from the Naval Reserve to the Army National Guard in 95. Since 2001 I've seen many new and exciting places. I get to go back overseas, to Afghanistan this time, next year. I will most likely be serving as an Embedded Tactical Trainer for the Afghan Army. As far as D&B Corps with boot, it was too darn easy. The discipline and attention to detail that I learned in the 'Coats made parts of boot camp enjoyable. Mainly because I wasn't receiving any extra attention from those loud guys in the funny hats. -T.
  23. Terrance calling someone else's post nonsense? I think I needa bourbon............. Pot? Kettle? -Travis
  24. I pretty sure last year was the same as this year. He goes by....... 44 and a half. Props to Agent 89. -Travis
