  1. "Their 2011 repertoire includes...nothing. They couldn't make it sound like it does on the CD. From ROCK-FORD, Illinois..."
  2. Nice feet. One of the cymbal players looks like he doesn't have a head. Is this in honor of Halloween?
  3. "Verdi Cries" by 10,000 Maniacs. "Shipbuilding" by Elvis Costello. The Prelude, "Welcome Home, Miz Adams" or "Seena" from Bernstein's "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue." (Or White House Cantata if you prefer.) "Unlikely Lovers" from Falsettoland by William Finn. "Sailing" from "A New Brain," also by William Finn.
  4. There would be four more, yes? Garfield 83 Star 91 Cavaliers 92 Phantom 96 Not a bad album at all.
  5. It was just called "DCI Champions." I have that one too. But it was Anaheim 72, SCV 73, Madison 75 and BD 76, since those were the first titles for each. It came out before the 79 season. Awesome. First time I heard Slaughter I plotzed. Unreal.
  6. That right there would be one of the most bad-azz shows of all time. Opening with TO and closing with Bacchanalia might make me wee-wee myself.
  7. A guy walks into a door, what's her name from Cadets steps out! Then Alex and his droogs perform a little of the old ultraviolence on the weepy young devotchka, wrapping their rookers round her rot, o my brothers. Horrorshow. (Done to "Singin' in the Rain," of course.)
  8. I have it on hi-cam, very poor VHS. (And Betamax still, I think.)
  9. I don't see why you felt the need to bring Pandora into it. What did she ever do to you? As for the name change: Boring. Who cares? Dinos living in the past. Nah, of course I'm kidding. Let's hope they kick it big-time 80s style! Even a little Petrushka wouldn't be bad! You can keep Interstellar Suite, though. SOA FTW, as they say.
  10. Alexander Nevsky. Whole show. It's all there.
  11. Would the Coke bottles be in the pit or on the field?
  12. Spirit played quite a lot of Glory in 1991. Worked well.
  13. There is video from Bham of Freelancers from1980.
  14. As long as they didn't try to pageant it up, but just play the emotions in the music rather than a literal telling of the story.
  15. DCI Championships, Denver 1978, Volume 2. First I ever got, best I ever got. Phantom Regiment Bridgemen Blue Stars Guardsmen. Wore that mother OUT. That's probably why PR 78 is the best show of all time IMO.
  16. And you know what else? HITLER, that's what!
  17. He was just trying to buy some inverted cheese, some iced pat-a-fla-flas, and a couple of packs of Swiss triplets.
  18. We were promised steak and all the trimmings if we made top 25 in 1988 (after scoring a 27 in the middle of June), and so we did. Best meal I ever had, not just the food, but the circumstances. Maybe someday I'll tell you about the Halfsies in 1983 or the Ham Sandwich Chronicles of 1984. Actually I think I did the Ham story already.
  19. It's entirely possible that "winning" is defined differently by all three of those corps. We all pretty much know how BD defines winning. Do we know how Pioneer or Spirit defines it? Or the Troopers? Because if everyone defines it as "winning DCI this season," almost everyone's goals and strategy and mission statement suck, since only one corps wins DCI every year. I don't believe everyone defines winning the same way, of course. And per your newsstand analogy, I'd hope that the newsstand guy has a goal defined by the size of his business, and not by the size of his jimmy, if you take my meaning. I'd hope most corps are that way. For my part, when I joined Geneseo the goal was "Top 12 in 83." Period. Goal not achieved, many people left prior to 84. By the time I aged out, with a continuously shrinking corps, the goal was finally just to do our best and hope that takes us where we think we should be.
  20. They did everything the same, except the pitheads had to double-time it off the field with the rest of the corps. IDK if they came back to play their song or not, because we left after the encore.
