Kind of wish we could vote for older shows, but I guess that's because we just vote for the same old shows every year.

Ooh didn't know Cadets went wire to wire that year. Do you know where I can get old recaps?

I dunno if it's possible. The finals performance would have to be pretty bad for judges to give the title from the undefeated corps to someone else.

Didn't he also want to take a penalty and let the corps jump into the stands for Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy? If that could've happened, it'd be my favorite moment in DCI history, hands down!

Has the Blooooo team announced any musical material yet?

As in they're not good or they should do this stuff as volunteers?

If we're talking about championship week, I don't think DCI Finals week has many casual watchers who don't appreciate it at all.

I voted beach, mall, and sporting event. Beach = swimming. Mall = movie theatre and sitting on your butt. Sporting event = baseball and sitting on your butt. Although to the person who spent a free day in Seattle: after living there for the summer, I could see it being a very cool place to spend a free day, except the large amount of homeless people :)

At an on-campus interview, I had my marching experience as the last thing on my resume. Turns out the girl interviewing me marched Crossmen 2002. I didn't get a second interview though, probably because I wanted to talk more about drum corps than about the job! Oops.

I'm happy that it didn't pass, the reasoning for the proposal was so arbitrary. Drum corps is the best thing in the world, but everyone has to move on. Plus I could see it screwing over people who made long-term decisions around their age out and thus not being properly honored by DCI and their corps.

I can't see corps outside of the top 7 agreeing to this, primarily Boston and Blue Knights, they're not necessarily top 9 locks from year to year. And I could see some other corps in top 7 be wary. SCV was 3rd in 2004, then 8th in 2005. A corps having an off year has tons of significance. I would not have so much of a problem with this if I could say Cavies, BD, and Cadets might not be top 7 any given year.

It is a possibility, in 2006 there was a YEA show in June at Allentown. For other venues for DCI East, there's Foxboro, although I don't think people liked that too much, and someone already said Annapolis.

I would like to be honored as an ageout. I've planned a lot around marching my ageout in 2008, but then to not be honored by my corps because of a new rule would be a big deal to me. The rationale behind moving the cutoff date doesn't justify it well enough. I mean, suppose we change it, then why not propose to move it back another 6 months in 2010? Same rationale applies. Let's just leave it be. I think there are more 30+ year olds upset about never marching than 22-23 year olds anyway.

Your first statement is confusing. Currently, if you turn 22 before June 1 for a given year, you are not eligible for that year.

So would I get to age-out twice? My 21st birthday is May 24. Under the current rule, I am aging out; I will turn 22 before June 1st, 2009, so I will not get to march in 2009. Under the new rule, since I will not be turning 23 until after January 1, 2010, I could march in 2009, but not 2010 because that's the year I turn 23. Hence under the new rule 2009 would be my ageout. How lucky, that's when the rule goes into effect.

Believe me, I wasn't happy. I had every intention of leaving it at home, and the whole point of me going on tour was to get away from them. The only time I talked to them on the phone was when they call at night and my phone happened to be on because I was asking someone for scores. Btw I was 19 and just finished a year of college too.

My parents wouldn't let me go on tour unless I brought my cell phone. :/

I agree, I played the original before hearing this show and I was a little taken by it. I love it, but quite different flavor by SCV than the original score.

Not sure how marketable that is. People already complain about low-quality June products, now you want to tell them the only time DCI comes to their neck of the woods is for preseason shows ala professional sports?
