  1. We also had a member step over the boundary line on the front of the field. Of course he happened to do it with the head judge standing right there.
  2. Thanks Vic!! The bus ride home was a little more tolerable. We were able to keep the AC running but we had to keep the setting pretty low to keep it from freezing up on us. All in all it was much more comfortable than the ride up.
  3. Thanks for the words of praise. We definitely love this show and are having a blast performing it. We did in fact have some A/C on the way home. It wasn't working great but it was at least working well enough that we didn't roast on the way home like we did on the way up. Our guard has been, in my mind at least, the MVPs of our corps so far this season. Sure they are a little behind schedule with where they would like to be at this point in the year but they are busting their butts every week to catch up and overcome the hurdles that have been put in front of them due to staff changes, member changes and show changes that inevitably happen when you start weeding out the flakes. We have every confidence that they will be able to step up their game by Labor Day weekend and will help us get to where we want to be. We had a blast this weekend and would like to thank MCL for putting on such a great event. We really needed the down time in the gym when we arrived especially after dealing with the bus issues. Looking forward to seeing all of you DCA South folks in Rockmart in a couple of weeks!!
  4. Thanks to all who came out and supported another successful Brass on the Bayou show. It was a great night for drum corps despite the pre show rain shower. Even though Teal Sound and Revolution decided to only perform in a standstill, it was still an overwhelming success and we couldnt have done it without the support of our fans and our board of directors and especially all of the corps that came and performed. Good luck to all involved for the remainder of the year and here's to an even more successful Brass on the Bayou 2008!!!!
  5. It was a rough run for us. It was better than Dallas but the way we look at it is it was DCI judges who were also juding SCV and the Cavaliers on the same field. The real test of where we are is going to come next Saturday at Brass on the Bayou. DCA judges on DCA sheets. Plenty of tickets are still available. Check out www.brassonthebayou.org for all the details.
  6. But dont worry....even if you dont have the chance to purchase a ticket beforehand for $5 bucks from a GCS member, we will still sell you one at the door for $7!! That's an amazing low price of $1 per corps performing!! Where else can you find such a bargain?
  7. I believe that Gulf Coast is in the same hotel as last year. Cant remember the name of it at the moment but it was right across the highway from the airport. So Cal Dream and White Sabers were in the same hotel with us last year along with Heat Wave.
  8. Only 31 more days to get your advance sales tickets for Brass on the Bayou!!!
  9. Now if only we could get the recap up on the DCA score page...... <edit> Yay!! Recap is finally up!
  10. Why arent the recaps up on the DCA score page yet?
  11. Check out the video montage from this past weekend on our webpage. Austin was a lot of fun and it was cool hearing what all the Texas corps are playing this year. Can't wait until next weekend with our first competition in Dallas!! www.gulfcoastsound.org
  12. Yeah....and we have a euph spot you can still jump into. Its never too late!!! ^0^
  13. For silver plated horns I use Hagerty's....at least I think thats the name. I cant find my can at the moment. Its a simple product to use. You spray it on and let it dry for about 30 seconds then you just wipe it off with a clean soft cloth. It leaves a nice finish that helps protect also.
  14. I tried the 1 1/4 G at Scott's recommendation a couple of years ago. Its a great piece to play on but I upgraded last year to an LM-35 which is just as big and stainless steel. It is possibly the most comfortable piece I have ever played on. I may never use another mouthpiece. I love the deep dark tones you can get with it. Granted it takes a while to build back up to the upper register with a mouthpiece that big but it makes honking on those low notes so much fun.
  15. I have one. I have been searching for a K-80 euph. If you find me one, I'll trade ya.
  16. Yeah but you get 3 or 4 of those with James alone in your corps. :P
  17. Ironic that you dont have a problem using the "well known name of a dead corps" in your new corps but you slam the Texas Kingsmen from Kingsville, TX for their choice of names in another thread. I am thinking pot....kettle....you know the rest.
  18. Can I get someone from the Renegades organization to contact me via email or PM please? I have some questions regarding the cruise fundraiser that you guys do. Some members of GCS were discussing a post season cruise the other day and I figured it might be a good way to make a little money if we invite some fanily and/or friends to come along.
  19. Brilliant!! Now where is that darn Guiness drinking smiley when you need it? Never mind......found it :mmm:
  20. Gulf Coast Sound will be making appearances this year in: 6/23 Ruston, LA 6/24 Bedford, TX 7/19 DCI show in Houston.....I know we are trying to get into this one. 7/28 Houston, TX 8/4 Nashville, TN 8/18 Rockmart, GA ??? Atlanta, GA - thought there was going to be a 2 show weekend in GA Labor Day - Rochester, NY Sad to not see Orlando on this list but to be honest, I dont think I will miss the 16 hr bus ride there. And come to think of it I probably wont miss the 16 hr bus ride back either. :P
  21. Put that on a tshirt and I might just buy one. ^0^
