1. When my friend confessed to me, I did give him a lot of grief over it because it ticked me off, too!
2. He's a band director at a middle school somewhere in NJ.
3. It was two guys who yelled and I know one of them personally. (No, it isn't me!)
4. Tomatillo's on Broadway just north of downtown is also another fine establishment! ;) Awesome Tex-Mex and some of the best Margaritas in SA!
5. Drum corps is my love. It is my life. The good far outweighs the bad.
6. Cool! Very, very cool! I'm getting chills just looking at the new and old pics!
7. The more judges you add, the more expensive it is to put on a show. This is do-able at the big shows like Masters or even Championships but for smaller, local shows it's just too expensive.
8. Agreed. Totally. When you have three corps that are performing so very well it's not unusual for there to be only tenths separating corps in a caption or sub-caption. The judges DID make a decision and it was extremely difficult to make. They are saying basically that these corps are all performing at an extremely high level and the differences between each group are almost negligible.
9. Too much anger and negativity in our world today. That's all I can say.
10. And how do we find this infamous marching technique video on YouTube?
11. Which was practically nothing. I'm happy with the Platinum service.
12.
How about universal health care? I'd trade drum corps shows for that :)
Yeah! (Sicko rocks)
13. Boo hoo hoo. West coasters have had to deal with this every single year up until now. I think you can survive one year when there aren't any more DCI shows on the east coast after Allentown. This year the east coasters get to see how it feels to travel to the opposite side of the country for DCI Championships. I wish I could be there at the ROSE BOWL. I'd rather be there than Boston or Buffalo. This is an asinine statement. Asinine statement #2. I shouldn't have even wasted my time responding to this post.
14. Agreed. It actually is cool and it really isn't narration. He just says "STOP!" <pause> "DROP YOUR WEAPONS!" <pause> "YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT!" <longer pause> "ANYTHING YOU PLAY CAN AND WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU!" It really is cool and probably my favorite use of amplified voice in DCI yet. Well done Bluecoats!
15. I've been on DCP (and before that RAMD) for YEARS now and I'm sure all the rest of you online drum corps vets probably get tired of seeing all the re-posts of the SAME subjects and polls by the "rookies" every single year. Gotta be thankful to see more and more new drum corps fans coming into the fray but jeez it really gets annoying. Sometimes I feel like the Lion wanting to swat the young cub and say, "be quiet you silly boy, you have NO idea what you're talking about"! :P But thats just me being an old drum corps fart! I remember when I was a newbie and was so irritated by the old farts. Now I'm an old fart who gets irritated by the newbies!
16. That's cool.... but I just laugh so much at those special pageants over there. You don't see that kind of thing in the U.S. especially for a big company like Samsung. Maybe on a smaller scale at a convention or something.
17. Isn't there a world of coke in LA :sshh: ? No... wait. Different thing altogether.
18. Thanks for the insight. The Troopers are YOUNG this year but they have a lot of talent in brass and percussion. It's also their biggest hornline in a long time so they're able to put out some sound. The problem is consistency. With a young corps and an almost completely new staff it's hard to have consistent performance from show to show. When you don't have a lot of vets in the corps it's difficult to get the members motivated to keep pushing harder and harder as the summer gets longer and longer. That's why you see their scores fluctuate so much and this has been a problem for the Troopers for at least the past 10 years. Short term solution: Bring the design staff together to figure out ways to put some spark in the visual program to improve the GE score. Some outside help would be good. Talk to the judges about it and pay attention to what they're saying. Long term solution: RETENTION! All of this years members and staff must return next year with a push for excellence like never before and a show that will rival that of the top 12.
19. At The Academy's last competition on June 24th they were about 6 points ahead of Pacific Crest and 6 or 7 points below Vanguard. If they had continued to compete up till last night (Friday July 6th) their score COULD HAVE BEEN around the 76-78 mark putting them between 8th and 10th position. If they had stayed out east this year they could have had a chance for the 8th spot in Murfreesboro. Their next show isn't until July 14th in Long Beach, CA and I predict they will win that show. Academy's brass and percussion charts are flat out WICKED!
20. I would also love to see Spirit make it to Murfreesboro but I think it's safe to say that the top 8 is pretty much set at this point. Blue Knights aren't going to let go of that 8th position very easily and they've been steady in that spot all summer. The current top 7 are most definitely in. BD, BK, BC, CC, PR, CAD, SCV, CAV Wish I could be in Murfreesboro. You folks in the Mid-South are gonna see the best DCI top 8 EVER in my opinion.
21. "Nice horn, dude. Very impressive!" ^0^ "Yeah, ummm... you too!"
22. This is going to be one unforgettable year!
23. That's not the shocker. The shocker is Madison's current standing. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
