I saw SCV at the power regional last Sunday and their show reminded me of the feeling I had when I saw the movie Avatar. After it was over and the credits started rolling, all I could think of was "Wow... ####... that was really good." And that is what I think of SCV's show this year. I was drawn in from the moment they started and was in awe of everything they did. No big tricks, no gimmicks, just great color guard taken to another level. This is one show I'm looking foward to seeing in the Dayton Arena.

WGASC had the following scholastic classes in 2009 and the approx number of units at the start of the season: Regional A - 100 Regional AA - 70 Intermediate A - 40 Scholastic A - 30 Open - 10 World - 4 20 units were promoted from Reg A to Reg AA during the season, but not much movement elsewhere. There is also a junior high/middle school division with 3 classes. Check out their website. They have plenty of online information including manuals, rule books, and a classification matrix that may help you.

It seemed like they were trying to copy WGI's finals retreat. (I was waiting for the confetti at the end.) But what works for WGI didn't work for DCI retreat at all. It was so out of place and awkward. I think they should have played some marches instead of Black Eyed Peas, Coldplay, Rihanna, etc., announce the scores, play the America The Beautiful, give the corps 30 minutes to mingle on the field, then the encore performance by the winning corps.
