  1. Actually they met last weekend. Kidsgrove did get to see the show then.
  2. Thank you DCP crew for providing the info for those of us who could not be there!!
  3. JohnD, Thank you for loading my favorite part of Hurc's show tonight-Downfall into Shenandoah! Many thanks to you and the entire crew for the awesome ceverage for those of us who could not be there!!
  4. Thank you for the terrific work today, DCP team!! I truly appreciate it! Thanks to all of the performers, too!
  5. Drums are playing 'Downfall" one of their street beats
  6. Okay, my 2 pennies..... Hurcs have given Honor Guard trophies for many years in honor of Harvey Olderman. Drum Majors deserve the same amount of respect. Those two captions are the only ones that you cannot figure out for yourself by looking at the recaps. With that said, I hope that everyone has a safe trip to and from Rochester, and have the time of your life!! It's a wonderful experience!
  7. Last night's show was amazing and although I cannot and will not write a review, I love Statesmen's show! Amazing Grace followed by the Pledge of Allegiance got it's point across to me-Proud to be an American and mindful of the sacrifices of those before us, now, and after us are making so that we can enjoy this wonderful freedom. Just my humble flag-waving opinion. On to Norwalk-they rocked! Mr. Smith should be very proud of his "kids" and what he has done for music. When I saw the heralding trumpets entering the field, I thought "He's doing it again." He is innovative and modern and really gets his "kids" to perform. Kudos to them for coming out a few weeks early and showing us what we can expect at all of the MAC shows that I plan to see this Fall! Thanks, Norwalk High School Marching Bears Band for another great performance at Fanfare. Everything else-I agree with the reviewer-tremendous night for Drum Corps and the winner was: the audience!! Thank you to all of the Corps and Band for a wonderful evening where even the weather co-operated! Trumbull-sorry you couldn't make it. By the way, Hurricane Cadets Colorguard-you rocked!
  8. Statesmen "One Voice" Hurricanes "Downfall" drum solo Corpsvets "Georgia"
  9. I was there, and the caption awards as they were announced are: High Brass: Cabs High Percussion: Hurcs Drum Major: Dave Bruni High Visual: Hurcs High General Effect: Hurcs Honor Guard: Hurcs I will not be doing a review because as an Alumni of Hurricanes, I'm sure that I will be accused of bias. I am not a musician, I am a fan, and have been a fan since I was a child. I don't have the understanding of why someone is given 'x' points for whatever, I just know what I like. I was also in Scranton. Statesmen improved their show a TON. I do not believe that Cabs did. The general concensus from all of my 'neighbors' for the night was that Hurcs deserved the win and were hands down the best of the evening. Their favorite moment was "downfall" from the back corner by Hurcs. (Kudos drumline!!) I love Drum Corps and the differences and similarites of all corps. Maybe I'll see you on the 50 next year! Yours in Drum Corps, Vi Lockwood
  10. Captions were: Color Guard, High Brass and High Percussion-Hurricanes Drum Major-Kate Socha, Hurricanes High Brass-Caballeros 1st-Hurcs 77.525 2nd-Cabs 75.9 3rd-CorpsVets 70.363 4th-Bush 68.4 5th-Cru 60.913 I'm excited for my Corps and will let someone else do a review. A beautiful evening with NO RAIN!!! Thanks to PAL Buccaneers, Teal Sound and Park City Pride for your exhibitions. Hurcs, thanks for a terrific encore with Mag 7 and Mariah.
  11. Okay, I have a little experience in the honor guard, so I'll try to answer. Being in the honor guard, whether it is a weapon or flag is the greatest thing that someone can do. You are honoring your country and all previous Drum Corps members. In most Corps, you will also be support staff. Anyone who wants to know what it actually feels like-don a uniform, or some equivalent. Find some spot where you won't be disturbed and stand there at attention for 12-15 minutes-arms up-without moving a muscle. Once you "get to your corner", you cannot move until the show is done. That includes Corps warm-up, show and whatever time it takes them to get to you after the show. It was the best time of my life, one that I hope to return to some day. Honor guard is indeed an honor and privilege to participate in and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Thanks for asking!
  12. Ray, I couldn't have said it better! It was great seeing old friends and listening to the Hurcs Alumni speak-thanks for making yours a short speech, by the way. It was even better hearing the show and Mag 7. Great show, great group. Good luck this year to all of my Hurricane brothers and sisters! One of the highlights of the evening (besides the great music)-Corps song! Vi
  13. Cakes! Glad that you're okay. Bill Flaker will be doing a review on DCW online-hopefully soon. My review-hot then soggy!!
  14. Thanks for the terrific photos, Nanci! Being on the other side of the lens makes it difficult for me to take any photos. By the way, where did you find your "drum corps nut"? I remember them from the "good old days" of parade corps in CT. Everyone had one in the back window of the station wagon! Thanks again for the pics.
  15. Good bye, by Hurc Brother. We will sorely miss the "Fred yell" before our shows. There's another Hurc  up there tonight. RIP, Bobby.
  16. Original thread: Barnum Festival :) Location: Kennedy Stadium
  17. Thanks for the kind words. Rich Tardie is the best-he works us hard but helps us more than I can describe. We are all proud of our spot with the Hurricanes, and love doing what we do. Rich has helped many in the past with flag etiquette-it's what he loves and it's one of the reasons I respect him so much. He's also fun to party with-so don't let the stern look fool you. (Don't let him know that I let out his secret!) Thanks to everyone in Carolina Gold for the fun time at retreat! Have a terrrific winter-see you all in '06.
  18. Thank you for your kind words. Ct Alumni needs to be acknowledged, also, as they were at our side. I do this as a way to repay and give thanks to the Drum Corps Family who did the same for my Father, who passed away in 1988. It was the first time that I witnessed a Drum Corps Honor Guard, and it touched my heart.
