  1. BD should just let the drums do body movement there. For all of their awesome marching technique, it does NOT look good when BD's hornline tries to do body movement, especially upper body...
  2. I think I actually liked the old ending better...
  3. I wouldn't be surprised to see BK take Bloo is vis. performance tonight. I like Bloo's show, but they're still really dirty visually...
  4. Wow, BK looked a LOT cleaner than when I saw the webcast from SA. Can't really tell how they sound, but the top 7 should look out, BK could sneak up on somebody this week if they're not careful... P.S. In the closer, when the horns get into the little triangles, does anyone else see the old dots logo in the groupings with the tubas and the right edges and progressively smaller down to the lower left? Don't know if it was intentional, but if it was, super cool...
  5. Blue Knights sound fine so far... Crap, I jinxed it...
  6. BD (Not my favorite BD show, but Phantom literally puts me to sleep...) SCV Cavaliers
  7. I love that show. We did a version of it this past year as our show my senior year in HS, and it was a blast. Our drumline had fun with the solo in Rainforest... b**bs
  8. I love cymbal lines! At the show in Chesapeake, the last 3 corps (Bones, SCV, Bloo) had to play in the gym, and so basically everyone spent SCV's entire performance watching the cymbal line....
  9. "Professional sousaphone player Eric Winkler of New Orleans called the game "laughably amateurish" and "nothing like" the actual sousaphone-playing experience. "The fingering's completely different, for starters," he said." LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!! :lolhit: :lolhit: :lolhit: :lolhit: :lolhit:
  10. Colts - As If We Never Said Goodbye Cavaliers - Pressure and the closer Boston - Cruzados The whole first half of Madison's show
  11. Also, at least at slower tempos, it looks like BK actually steps with the toe leading instead of the heel. A lot more ballet-like, and also sort of like a show horse (too bad that Crown's the one doing the horse show). Any BK alums correct me if I'm wrong...
  12. I could see you having a beef with vis. ens., but maybe the Cavaliers won GE Vis. b/c their visual program is a lot more effective (not more difficult) than the Blue Devils?
  13. You do have to consider that even if a judge thinks that one corps had a much better show than the other, they can only judge within their caption. And judges may not catch all aspects of a show depending on where they're focusing at any given point. I'd still rather leave the judging up to trained professionals than spend useless time arguing about how the judges got it all wrong. After all, if you enjoyed the show, does it really matter where the judges place them?
  14. Well, even being "subpar" hornlines, the spread from first to third was only .2, so it's not like the judges hear a huge dropoff...
  15. I seem to remember that they had a ton of ageouts last year and that it's a relatively young corps, so that may have something to do with it. Other than that, it could just be a somewhat down year for the brass. I think we've just gotten so used to being blown away by the Cavaliers in many regards that their problems now may seem a bit magnified. They've still got two weeks left. Anything can happen...
  16. BD will (and should) win the sohw, but I still believe that the Cavaliers have what it takes to take first in two weeks...
  17. It's Dick Cheney! And he's got a gun! Run for the hills!
  18. The opener was very nice, but I liked the mello feature better when it was the next lick from Pegasus rather than whatever it is they're playing now... :(
  19. Nice execution, but concept wise, this show doesn't work for me at ALL. When I listen, I hear classic Regiment, but I don't really get "On Air" or birds at all except for the ballad. They certainly are performing well, but this seems to me a HUGE step down from Faust in terms of design...
