  1. 1987 Florida Wave and 2002 Blue Knights And yes, I am a homer for both of those shows!
  2. In 1986 after we performed at the US Open we went back to our buses and one of them had a dead battery. They tried jumping the one bus with our other bus (we only had two buses that year) and for some reason it drained the battery of the other bus. We were stuck, and most of us ended up sleeping on the grass in front of Marion HS that night. Good times.......
  3. It helps make learning how to ride a bike easier?
  4. Marching - 1985, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90 Teaching - a bunch since 1992
  5. From the Doobie Brothers website: Michael Hossack was born in Paterson, New Jersey on October 17, 1946 (a real baby boomer). At age twelve Mike started playing drums in the Little Falls Cadets, a Boy Scout Drum and Bugle Corp. He credits his drum instructors, Joe Whelan (Little Falls Cadets), Bob Peterson (Our Lady of Lourdes Cadets), and George Tuttle (Fair Lawn Cadets) for teaching him the disciplines of playing with other drummers. “People always ask me of it’s hard to play with another drummer. I tell them that after playing along with up to twelve other drummers at once in the drum corps, this is a snap!” I actually got to meet Mike once and he was very nice to both me and my kids. R.I.P.
  6. The Blue Knights clip is 1993 - The Star Trek show
  7. It was rough, as about 20-30 kids ended up with Chicken Pox and missed rehearsal time at some point that summer. Lucky me, I was one of the worst cases. I was out for a few days completely and then when I was a little better I had to rehearse in full cover with sweatpants, sweatshirt, hat, and bandana covering my face so no skin would be exposed. It was not fun at all, but I made a point to not miss any shows!
  8. In 1987 we had a bit of a chicken pox epidemic go thru our corps (thanks again Nancy) and I was one that caught them. I called home to tell my mom that I had chicken pox and she wanted me to come home. I said no and hung up the phone. I called her back a week and a half later to tell her I was ok. Not sure if something like that would fly these days, lol.
  9. Carolina Crown rehearses in Fort Mill for camps all the way up until Spring Training, when they move to Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs (about 90 minutes away).
  10. 89 BD - If We Were In Love One of the best ballads ever! Of course, you could also make a "broke my heart" joke about finals night..........
  11. I saw the show for the first time that summer at Whitewater prelims. UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!! :worthy: One of the cleanest hornlines ever, for sure!
  12. I remember seeing them live that year in Allentown, the year that all Div. 1 corps did prelims on the same day. The "Bells" section with all of the sopranos was very cool!
  13. My favorite Blue Knights show from the 90's. Love the Mighty Mouse section! :)

  17. Ventures did a Sweet Charity show in the late 80's / early 90's? It was one of the years they won Div. II - I remember they had a bunch of blow up dolls that they danced with.
  18. One of my all time favorite shows! Must have worn out the cassette tape listening to Hunter Moss wail that solo in "Blues In The Night" over and over again!
