  1. Spirit 86' is still one of my all time top 10 favorites. I hope that they will continue to surge. Good luck the rest of the season.
  2. Uuh. Sir. The first three minutes are pre-show and not judged content. If you recall last year, the pre-show was brass well now it is the percussions turn. The actual first note of the show is as many F's as allowed without distorting the sound. Michael Klesch is one of the best arrangers out there, and this years Crown is no exception. Your post is actually a jumbled up mess.
  3. You are correct sir. Outstanding analogy. Oh, in case I haven't shared this with you sir, Cadets show is bad #$%!!
  4. Herbert is not only a wonderful talent but a classy kid.
  5. Yes to that, and the three corps in 2011 that will separate themselves in brass this summer from the rest of the pack are, in this order: Crown Cadets Cavaliers
  6. Really? I mean really? The corps is still producing incredible sound. (High brass in Round Rock) The visual program is still top notch. Percussion is great and so is the guard. If the show is not your cup of tea I get that, but there is nothing lacking in quality in this corps.
  7. What a mess. Lol. There were a few consistencies but they were few and far between. I imagine if there were critiques the last two nights, there was alot of "Lucy, you got some splainin to do".
  8. And Surfs 03' and 04' weren't full of cheddar? I thought they were fun shows.
  9. Based on a potential "accidental post" on the DCI website, this is one of the easiest polls I may have ever voted in.
  10. Actually, I have been watching BD shows since the early 80's. The BD shows these days are far less engaging. They know how to play the "modern" game well today. March simple, play simple, and be clean. Today's BD shows are nothing like the old days.
  11. Easy plan9. I am kidding.... My BD posts (For the most part) are tongue and cheek. I am a Crown Honk, but I give credit where credit is due.
  12. NO, but it would be nice to see more than follow the leaders snakes and 8 to 5 drill
  13. I have an idea. This year, BD should bring out bar stools and tables. Have a fundraising raffle that will allow a lucky winner/fan to sit at the bar stool and table during the show, on the 50 yard line, on the front hash mark, with unfettered access to draft beer.
  14. If people have not figured out Crown's philosophy on programming and culture you probably will never get it. Even when I marched in the early 90's, it was about performing your best and having a great time, entertaining. (well, and early on for survival) The core values have not changed. They have just gotten stronger and better. They will be in the mix in the end. They always are. The title is an awesome goal for any corps. However, I think some corps get lost in the fever of title chases and forget about what the activity is really about. Entertainment, especially in today's climate. Crown is gonna "rock!" every stadium they are in this season, and I am looking forward to watching every other corps give it their all and let the best corps win.
  15. Easy, easy there friend. I am a hopeless Crown honk but I didn't take that post as anything else but funny.
  16. Bad idea. You should march a particular corps because you want to be there. I have spoken to many kids that march in open class corps and they all say the same thing for the most part. They march their first year there and they feel as loyal to their corps as the kids marching world class corps. On several occassions, the kids I spoke with were annoyed by the question. In particular, one trumpet player who aged out with the open class corps. Stayed there 8 seasons and had the talent to march lead at a world class corps. It is called loyalty. Let's leave it the way it is.
  17. I want to drop a challenge for 2011 for a research project if any of you are willing to help. This season, I would like to see how many new fans attend a show. I will compile the results of this very unscientific poll through championships. As you post your results, I will provide a weekly and YTD assesment each Friday. The criteria is below: 1) How many friends/family attended 2) How many new fans came with you 3) Their favorite show 4) One positive experience they had at the show 5) One negative experience they had at the show The professor for this class has indicated that "unique" entertainment venues such as our beloved activity will not survive the years ahead and I wan't to prove them wrong. Please reply back as a post on the thread if you would be willing to participate and I will go from there. THANKS!!
  18. I apologize. I took it the wrong way. I won't run from the comment sir. I made a mistake.
