  1. I can't see Surf catching them. However the larger point is well taken, that Surf has stepped into the east coast vacuum left by the Crossmen. It is probably no coincidence that Surf went world-class two years after the Crossmen left for the Lone Star State.
  2. I don't understand the last statement. I don't know that 1st, 5th, 2nd, 5th counts as a down stretch. Especially when 2005 tied for the highest score in DCI history. Sounds a lot like 86-89: 4th, 1st, 4th, 5th. Or maybe even 96-99: 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 4th. I think that 2007 does not get nearly as much credit as it deserves because of a. the narration and b. those pesky Devils. The show worked. It would not have medaled if it didn't. I think Cadets are best when they are zagging when everyone else is zigging. This year it's backward. They are zig, so far Crown is zag (or at least a better zig).
  3. Probably the best a show site can do is have an indoor option if there is one available. School gym, field house, auditorium...As long as people are getting SOMETHING.
  4. Offering a free ticket to the next year's show would be the surest way to get it OFF the calendar. No $ to pay corps, etc. = no show.
  5. Way to go Bones! Hit that 70 mark. Nowhere to go but up.

  7. Anyone else notice the lack of vocals in Crown's show?
  8. I love Carolina Crown this year. This statement is officially approved by me. It is the official statement of mfrontz. Let's talk drum corps.
  9. My money is on thirty-two more counts of drill ending with a Crown.
  10. DCP is far from being the "official" discussion forum of drum corps...I think that most DCP readers think it is more central to the activity than it is. If it were the official discussion forum, it would be endorsed by DCI, DCA, or another adjudicating body. Would you suggest that other discussion forums be shut down because you prefer Drum Corps Planet and proclaim it the 'official' discussion forum? By what authority would you do so? The NCAA does not recognize a national champion, but the BCS does. Before the BCS, people online used to call them "MNCs" or "Mythical National Champions." That indicates a recognition, among people that want to define terms, that there is room for discussion - that there is no official champion. I would indeed hope that someone in higher education would expect his students to use terms correctly.
  11. I do. He is saying that anything that is truly called "official" needs an "officer" with the authority to proclaim it the "official" thread. This is the definition of "official." Is there or is there not an officer with that authority? On the other hand, if other threads are actually being closed (I am late to the party), then this thread is de facto the official thread, as officers (moderators) are making it so by their actions. Crown is AMAZING this year.

  13. okay, now they are. The scores posted on the thread are correct.

  15. Only certain shows are multicam. This show is listed as highcam.
  16. Fantastic question and illustrates the difficulty of picking just one. I'm going to go a different direction and say Jeff Fiedler. Assembling the team is at least as important as being part of it. I am very interested to see if he can bring SCV back to the top. I'm sure, even though his roots and heart are with Cavies, that he is enjoying the challenge.
  17. Needz teh vocalz to keepz with teh Crownz lawlz!!!111!
  18. True. But Crown's staff is more than DVD. I think that the combination is quite good. I should have been more clear.
  19. Point well taken - but you're no fun. Besides, Bluecoats didn't have Van Doren. Cadets, Star and now Crown do. STAFF win championships.
