  1. making predictions is stupid.......they dont mean anything and its a waste of time.... but heres mine.... I predict that all your predictions will be wrong
  2. The uniforms looked great! When seen in the lights, the shakos glisten and sparkle. The "blade" looks balanced from the stands. Some unis fit tighter on ppl so it could just be who is wearing it. When the corps turns around you get a pop of white on black and looks awesome. Good luck PC!!
  3. When I started dating my BF (of 5 years) he was in drum corps and introduced me to it. Two years later I joined the same corps. We kept the PDA to a minimum when we had to focus on rehearsal and did not let our relationship affect our drum corps responsibilities. We left out some drama and enjoyed each others company when ever we could. We even sat on different buses because he was in percussion and I was a brass player. I had my friends and he had his and we would alternate which ones we would hang out with on free days. He aged out a year before I did and joined the staff as a drumline tech. This was hard because now I was a student and he was a staff member. It was lonely but we got through it. Some of the staff members that year didn't even realize we were a couple. Last year I aged out and now he is off on tour without me. We text everyday thanks to Verizon In texting plans and the food truck has wireless internet so he can send emails. Its amazing when you are no longer marching you have nothing to do but miss those who are. I'm glad he marched while in a relationship otherwise I never would have known about drum corps. Being in a relationship while marching is easy but you have to be mature about it and know what is appropriate and what isn't and when.
  4. PC is having a very good season this year, can't the people on this forum give them a little credit? First of all...their show is "cheesy" because duh its a show about Vegas...to a tourist its the mecca of cheesy Second of all...there are lots of other corps who have narration in their shows, not just PC. And in fact they have taken some away, not because of you but because of judges critique. And in comparison to lets say The Cadets, they have almost none at all. Thirdly...they do use images from the casinos, ranging from the Vegas sign itself to a dollar sign to dice that actually move and roll numbers to a slot machine pulling sevens to cards shuffling. I think it is sad that some of you have preconceived notions and judgments on a corps that you haven't even seen. You are like the people that read the movie critic reviews, the ones that say a movie is bad, but really it's pretty good. Keep an open mind throughout the season. I feel from now till August 9th, anything can happen and it's going to be among the more interesting years in terms of corps placement. Good Luck to ALL the corps! Have fun, and don't take any negative comments about your corps on DCP seriously! Most of them are probably wrong! See you at Finals in beautiful Pasadena!!!!!! B)
  5. Febreeze!!!!!!!!!! Don't leave home without it. An AeroBed air mattress. Leave the sheets on it and all you have to do is roll it up all together and it only takes a minute to pump it up when you pull into a site late at night, even comes with it's own bag, in which you can stick an extra blanket. Ladies, don't wash your hair everyday, it dries it out and damages it. And ladies, you should bring some Gold Bond too. I recommend the green medicated kind. If you can't get to a washer and dryer, bring a small bottle with some liquid detergent and wash important stuff in the sink of the locker room.
  6. FINE! GO AHEAD! HAVE YOUR STUPID FUN! HAVE FUN TELLING THAT CORPS MEMBER WHO IS MARCHING THIS YEAR THAT THE CORPS THEY LOVE AND ARE EXCITED ABOUT IS YOUR HOT DOG SHOW AND THAT THEY WON'T PLACE WELL! GO AHEAD! I HOPE YOU FEEL REALLY GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF! YOU MAKE ME SICK WITH YOUR PREDICTION FUN AS YOU CALL IT. <**>
  7. You should seriously cut back on your hot dog intake. Its not good for you. And plus you might see some awesome shows that you never have the priviledge of seeing cause you're always eating. By the way, making predictions so early in the season, when some corps don't even have a corps yet is whack! <**> Everyone on this thread will be proven wrong-just look at last year's standings and see what I mean......some will fall when not expected and others will rise under everyone's noses...especially this guy's-cause he'll be eating hotdogs all day. :P
  8. I have marched the Rose Parade four times and each one has been amazing. Last year, if you guys remember, it rained-HARD! We were soaking wet! My gloves were dripping when I pressed down the valves. The ponchos did nothing. We were slipping in the rain soaked horse pies and afterwards we ate soggy In-N-Out burgers on the bus. I'll never forget the next days when we had to clean the uniforms after being left to dry in closed classrooms. The smell was so bad. All in all it was a great experience and I wish that someday an All Star Drum Corps group will march in it. That would be so awesome!
  9. Just for the record, PC auditions have always been mid January. Only this year have they made their auditions coincide with the last weekend of the December workshops. (If anyone is interested, Pacific Crest has a myspace page and on it you will find details of the 2007 show design and dates for worksops and auditions, which are in december. PC is starting earlier this year and you can even go to their website and see their schedule.) Here is their site: www.myspace.com/pacificcrest or www.pacific-crest.org
  10. <**> please don't assume. PC has only been competing at finals since 03. anything could happen. i say we just wait till madison and not count our chickens before they hatch.
  11. not a lot of people know, but the Pasadena City College Lancer Marching Band was also in the movie. we didnt play but we are featured in the scenes during the welcome day to band camp. We just had to sit there holding our instruments while they took a million takes. The funniest part was watching the actors trying to play snare drum. We knew they were going to dub over the real thing, but it was hilarious to watch. I got a few close ups along with some of my friends. I was part of the East Great Falls band. just thought you'd like to know.
  12. Hi, im new and i have been reading threads on DCP for a while now, and i just had to comment, so i joined......anyway.... im so tired of ppl on this forum bashing PC for not being a full touring corps. yes, they do not have as much time with their instructors and yes they do not go to as many shows as all the other "full touring" corps, but they still get the job done. the corps "gels" quite nicely and the bonds between the members are just as strong. they still have fun doing it, and many students that dont have the time or money to be in a full touring corps finally have a chance to participate in the drum corps activity. this year they have made changes to their staff, and changes to the way the corps is run. this year could prove to be very successful, who knows. as everyone has seen in past years, anything can happen. And yes they are getting black pants..... (Sorry for ranting and raving, but i couldnt sit in the corner anymore and be silent) bring it on PC!!!!!
