  1. Have listened to PC 2005 a few times today. Good stuff. But I'm curious, did the horn line bite off a little more than they could chew that year? Great music and great imagery, but the horn line was a little rough around the edges. Kinda threw me off considering the wonderful 2003 performance recording. Shame that you didn't make semi's in 2005, maybe with one more show you could have polished it up a little more. OH well.... Great show Am kinda curious to see what a corps like crown or phantom or even Vanguard could do with Sinfonia Antarctica and Four Sea Interludes
  2. "MARTY!!..you're not thinking fourth dimensionally! " "Right!,..i have a real problem with that..." OOOOoOOOOooOHh there we go....how's about a "Back to the Future" show!?
  3. pretty sure they lost at least once or twice to the Devils?
  4. Congrats to Carolina Crown for receiving the highest Fourth place score in DCI History Awesome show, awesome horn line, can't wait to see what you have in store for 09!!
  5. as some of you may or may not know. Going back to 1984, the first year of the current judging style, the corps that has won semi-finals has always go on to win finals...or at least tie for 1st in finals. I believe that if there was ever a year for this streak to end, it is now or NEVER. Phantom arguably has GE and Music in the bag...but the visual captions overall (5th) is killing them. PREDICTION: Phantom won't beat Blue Devils in Visual this year BUT ....if Phantom can even pull out some decent top 3 visual numbers (in line with Cavies) tomorrow, ...BD won't have a chance and the streak will end. But at this point, I think DCI and the Judges have made up their mind Thoughts?
  6. heh....crown may just walk away with the highest fourth place score of all time tomorrow night..... gotta beat Cadets 1999 score of 96.4 tho
  7. and its only good enough for a 3rd place finish.............sad
  8. someone help me out. Are caption awards an average of the three nights? or did we go back to the finals night winner take all format? if its the former....then i think Regiment just won their 2 Percussion trophy in 3 years....
  9. omg yes and while we're on it....can we work on a name change? "spirit" just sounds so...incomplete. How about "Southern Spirit" or Spirit of Alabama"
  10. WOW. BD 4th in GE Music , 4th in Music Ensemble......and 3rd in Music Overall....and yet they STILL win. It might be time DCI and myself parted ways.....that's a hard one to swallow
  11. In first place....which is....actually....a tie..... LOLZ...i'd scream....and pull out a large portion of my hair

  13. how's about killing the side line drum major in the purple cape first? ...then running over to the podium for the Emperor... How epic would that be....to go drum majorless for almost 25 seconds at the end *Starts foaming at the mouth*
  14. Weird stuff.... Phantom's guard beats Crowns.... Phantom takes third in brass... Phantom wins Visual Performance Finals is completely up in the air now.....
  15. *a repost originally written by "The Tzar"* With finals almost upon us, I felt a little humor needed to be injected into the boards.....the follow was posted by "the tzar" a few years ago (2003 maybe)....i've saved it on my hard drive all these years...... ------------------------------------------------------------------- The world is changed… I taste it in the purple stuff… I feel it in the artificial turf… I smell it in the summer air… Much that once was, is now lost. For none now live who remember it. It began with the forging of the great rings of power. Two were crafted for the men of Madison, true and honest in their ways. Six were given to a California corps, classy, valiant, and noblest among their kind. Five were given to a Chicago corps, great movers and crafters of fine young men. And ten, ten were gifted to a Concord corps who above all else desired a title, at any cost. For within these rings was bound the strength and will to create “excellent men and women”. But they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made…in the East, in the shadows of the Empire State Lord Hopkins forged, in secret, a master ring to control all the judges sheets. And into this ring he poured all of his Eastern Standard Time training, the guarantee of late-season comebacks, and the will to dominate all of drum and bugle corps. One ring to rule them all… One by one various corps of DCI fell to the power of the ring… But there were some who resisted…a last alliance of Midwestern and Western corps marched against the men from New Jersey and on the field of various stadiums they fought for the glory of “true drum corps”… Victory was near… But the power of the ring could not be undone. It was in this moment when all hope had faded that it fell into the hands of Lord Gibbs. Lord Hopkins, the enemy of the free people of DCI, was defeated…. The ring passed to Concord, Lord Gibbs had this one chance to fix drum corps forever. But the hearts of men are easily corrupted and the ring of power has a will of its own. It betrayed Lord Gibbs to a YEA-type “10 super-corps” vision, and some rules that should not have been forgotten, were violated…. Ideas became rule suggestions… Rule suggestions became law… And for a number of years the ring of power passed out of all knowledge… Until, when chance came, it ensnared a new bearer. The ring came to a young, vibrant corps director who took it deep into the midst of the suburbs of Chicago .......and there, it consumed him. The ring brought to Lord Fiedler unnaturally long winning streaks and titles galore. For years it poisoned his mind with thoughts of skin-tight colorguard outfits…..and in the gloom of the Cavalier Winnebago, it waited… Darkness crept back into the stadiums of the world. Rumor grew of a “Beast in the East”. Whispers of electronic and amplified evil…and the ring of power perceived its time had now come… It abandoned Lord Fielder… But something happened then, the ring did not intend… It was picked up by the most unlikely person imaginable. A solid man, Lord Seidling… For the time will soon come when Phantom Regiment will shape the fortunes of all in drum and bugle corps…
  16. Agreed. And I think there's a strong possibility that Crown could even pass Cadets by/or at finals...down only 1.1 points last night
