  1. I love the emoticon! Lets officially change the green koolaid to Guiness (black and tans on show days).
  2. I'd settle for a non-themed show without synthesizers.
  3. June 1 does make sense after seeing the reasoning listed by you and a few others. I was lucky that my birthday was in sept.
  4. I always thought the rule back when I marched made the most sense, if you're 21 years old the night of DCI finals you can march that year, if you're 22 on the night of DCI finals you can't. I think June 1 is a pretty arbitrary date that can lead to further discussions to change it to another arbitrary date.
  5. Not to bring up old wounds but the CW I remember from back in that era is that there were an over age person or two in some corps that had forged birth certificates to con their way in (unbeknownst to the staff and admin of the corps they were in) but Hawthorne had as many as 10 to 20 over age members that the staff and administration knew about and accepted (and some were way over 22 years old). I've always thought that a good comparison would've been if SCV and Madison were able to march their best over age members from 72, 73 and 74 then the playing field would have been even. This discussion is not unlike Mark McQuire saying everyone was taking PED's in his era so his records should stand - in his mind he probably believes it but everyone who played by the rules sees it completely different.
  6. The question is "would they have been top 3 without overage members?
  7. Scouts 90.55, Muchachos 88.7, BD 87.45, SCV 86.8, 27 85.3
  8. Thanks Dan, I thought #5 was Ricky for sure but knew he was DM that year so I thought my mind was going on me (again). By the way I saw Ricky at the pre-show tailgate at Drums on last year. Who ever #2 is kudos to him for having the guts to wear those pants. On Sunday I'm going to hear Jimmy Elvord & Doc present their new programs for raising $$ for the Scouts. I'm sure Jimmy will get everyone pretty fired up to get out there and get it done.
  9. Every corps has alumni. All alumni should donate to the corps they marched in.
  10. 1.) ? 2.) ? 3.) Chris Bratz 4.) David Lee 5.) ? 6.) Dave Woolpert Seeing its the french horn line I do know that Bob Kuske & Dennis Drews were in the line that year (I believe the french horn line won I & E in 73 and 74) but the first 2 guys don't look like them. Time for the Guerno to get on here and fill in the blanks.
  11. This page made me realize what a small world it is. I marched with Glen Morimoto in the Scouts and he marched in Niesi, Des Plains and then the Scouts. I believe Moto was in the Scouts 73 thru 76. He was one of the best sops we had, always up front with Metzger and Tippet.
  12. Just thought I'd check and see if photos were posted.
  13. Hey Bill, PM me and let me know how things went. I'll PM you back and flame away at everything you say :)
  14. I would change the rule that says 8 more years at LOS.
  15. OR you can vote for the corps of your choice.
  16. When I think of a SCV toast I think of Sanford and Royer mixing a drink in the parking lot (and usually mixing it with ice only).
  17. Well we'll always have Mad75 and Denny to make us feel tall. I know in the alumni corps a lot of guys didn't know I existed, they thought my bass drum had legs. First Scout camp/auditions today and I unfortunately am sitting here working - first camp I've missed in three years.
  18. Who ARE those old guys! I think the 2010 Scouts should enter from the back side line in a company front to the front side line and then give us a little Slaughter and move the crowd back in their seats. Just an idea. Maybe a little too ol' school for some but what the heck.
  19. Gary, maybe you're right and they started using some taller ones in 1975. Possibly I'm so short that I just thought mine were tall.
  20. Performance wise I'll say 1975 CYO in Boston and 2006 Scouts Alumni corps show in Madison. Both crowds were off the charts crazy. As a fan I always loved seeing a show at Mile High, new one and old one.
  21. Looking back through some Scout archives I see that they acquired the year old West Point Uniforms for $5.00 each (which included 8 changes and variations for each member including dress grays and summer whites). These uniforms replaced the green cadet uniforms that they wore from 1962 through 1966. The Scouts wore the West Point uniforms in 1967 & 68. When Bill Howard to over as Ex. Dir. in 1969 they went back to the explorer Scout uniform which they had worn previously from 1952 through 1961. The Scouts kept the explorer uniform (in a variety of forms) through 1982. In '83 they went to the white Eisenhower Jackets and on and on and on...........................until 2010 when they went back to some form of the explorer uniform that has yet to be revealed. I personally can't wait to see a little high mark time with dark green pants & spats.
  22. Back to uniforms & spats! I believe it was 1976 when the Scouts went to the shorter spat shown in this photo. The ones we wore in 75 were about 3 of 4 inches taller. I believe in 76 some wore the shorter and some the taller ones. I hope they use the taller ones because I remember the pants legs sitting on top of the short ones sometimes.
  23. Well my PM source apparently had it wrong. 5 out of 6 isn't bad though. So we're still searching for the name of the guy on the far left - a vertically challenged lead sop.
