  1. http://beanman.net Check it out...2 long shows...35 minutes on the 94 reunion, including the ENTIRE show (which I had not seen befofre...just Crown Imperial and Danny Boy), and a near hour retrospective.... You young'uns....check out the history....and the dedication...lasts a lifetime....
  2. http://www.shotdrum.com Not bad...a bit newm so all the stuff's not up...but check out the UNT clip in the PASIC video listing...tenors are sick sick SICK!!!
  3. 82 BD had a sop player was was deaf...one of the 82 alums could confirm how deaf she was....fairly profound, if I remember the story.
  4. 84...the Whitewater Wipeout...finals! I actually heard a recording from the stands of that night...don;t remember where. You hear Garfield starft the upward chromatic run at the beginning of the Z pull...the fall...and you just can't hear the brass anymore. What sucked for them was that those who fell were going backwards at the time, so the could NOT see that they were about to take a spill....oerfect intervals, tho. You could set your watch my the rate of them falling. And THANK YOU for confirming what I've been saying for 20 years about the score. I remember standing next to Regiment as both corps were going over the recaps following retreat...and both corps got to that caption at the same time. The twin en masse looks of disbelief from 250+ people (both groups look at the other in shock) is a good memory...2 decaded later! Jbl...I think it may have been the tenors with the dog collars...there are a couple of pictures in the yearbook of Joe White wearing one...but that may just have been him! 84 WAS the year the entire snare line wore tube tops for the final run through on finals day...on Carla Azar that was one thing...but seeing Rob Sirat's chest hair on both sides of the tube....ewwwww MY EYES!!! MY EYES!!!! AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
  5. Randy McCray... 83 Freelancer contra....decked a judge witht he same kind of move...with a K-90! ouch!
  6. While watching the 1990 finals, I started wondering how SCV originally ended the show, since the horns from the tunnel was only on Finals night... Anyone?
  7. Govies playing "duck, duck, goose" at DCA retreat last year...
  8. Dark Helmet: "Did you see anything?" Col. Sanders: "No sir....I didn't see you playing with your dolls again." Dark Helmet: "Good!" My God, that was a funny flick!!
  9. Where in the show was it, Don...I don"t remember it, and I COULD see you!
  10. *strikes superhero pose* My work here is done!! *romps off into the sunset...*
  11. Then (front row, 3rd from left) More then Now (right....left is Dave Fowler, 84Cadet, who HAS MY RING!!!) See? Here's the ring right here! More now: 2001 Fencing nationals....getting my ### kicked in sabre. 14 years ago Balding now
  12. Tim Morning...now THERE'S a name that brings back memories....sudden step-size changes, specifcally! And the vets trying to snuggy him, only to find out he wore some sort of polyester shorts that wouldn't rip (unlike the three cotton ones I had ripped away)
  13. Speaking as one who has both tied for a national title (86 DCUK) and ALMOST tied for one (84 DCI), I don't feel I was robbed. In my only year of junior corps we won brass (SCV and Garfield tied with us), percussion, and color guard....all the performance captions. We got killed in GE and were a gnat's whisker behind (and thus,. the margin of loss) in a technical caption (M&M). I would happily have tied then, but at least I know I got beat by one of the greatest shows of all time; I have been told numberous times that in any other year, BD would've won. 2 years later, I was part of thr BD of Great Britain....a corps so powerful that the Conquest Alliance was formed specifically to beat us...and the best they could do was tie, since we won brass and percussion (would have to dig out my vinyl records for the other captions....the recaps were actually on the back cover) In neither case did I feel like I kissed my sister, nor was I robbed...I brought my best game and so did my opponents. As far as judges making a decision...they do...at the time they assign a score to an individual corps. I sorta doubt the judges are sitting at the table comparing scores and recaps between the last corps and retreat.
  14. 88, actually....first CD track I blasted was Madison!!
  15. Does anyone have ANY portion of the brass charts from the following corps? 1985 Velvet Knights -- Catching the Sun 1985 Suncoast Sound -- Midnight in Miami (from after the bass run to the end, primarily) Am working on something and would rather have actual music to work from instead of playing "pick a note" on a keyboard. Thanks!
  16. Both tricks happened during the push in "Great Gate at Kiev" (one of the all-time great pushes, by the way) 86: "Wizard" hypnotizes a girl in the guard, sticks a broom under her right armpt and swings her up so the broom is vertical, but her body is parallel to the ground. Then he puts another brook under her legs. On the half step part of the push, the 2nd broom is removed, leaving the guard girl magically suspended. 87: Where the previous year the wizard had put the girl up on the broom, this time a platform with a metal frame was rolled out...nothing on it. A tarp is brought down. Where the broom was removed the previous year is now the tarp coming up and a guard girl appearing. Then the tarp comes down and a 2nd girl is made to appear! In the vid the shot's fairly tigbht and you can figure out how they did it....but it was designed to be seen from the stands and from there you couldn;t tell.
  17. Looks like they used the same platform (no brainer there)...they just reversed the 87 gag for 88-89. The 86 trick was different from 87...I think I figured it out years ago.
  18. Also might contribute to BD's incredible run at the top....since 1975 they's been no lower than 5th...and that 5th was a one time deal in 91. The low stress within the staff/member relationship probably mirrored to a certain degree that within the staff. members can tell when there are tensions...and it affects their own work ethic.
  19. *snort* Beacon of suck....pardon me while I wipe the teares of laughter from my eyes!!! I'll agree with Felix here...the spitting is a tad extreme, given the insult we attach to spitting on someone. That's EXACTLY what I'm talking about!
  20. Yep...I think he called it the "cobra" The things you learn in durm corps!!!
  21. Jack and the elevator rides....#### near fell asleep one time!
  22. The notes you are referring to are D & C# (below the staff), Eb and Ab (in the staff). You can't play them on a 2 valvers....the horns are physically incapable of playing them. ABOVE the staff is a different matter...Ab...1st valve and throw the 1st valve tuning slide all the way in. You just arrange around it...pick a key that minimizes those 4 notes....it's mroe of a problem in the low brass and lower parts in the mids & uppers...I doubt there's an upper lead sop alive who's ever had to worry about them!
  23. Oh I don;t know about that...looks pretty sharp to me. Didn't Xmen have red shells with white hardware?
