  1. If member recruitment is their concern, getting out in front of this would’ve been the way to go.
  2. It’s a situation where a man in power exerts his power over those below him. I’d say there are certainly parallels.
  3. Sorry to harp on this, but the silence from Allentown is deafening to me. Three. ****ing. Months. Regardless of how valid they perceive these allegations to be, the BoD had three months to ready a response. I simply cannot fathom that the legal advice was "Let's just wait and see what the reaction is" in this day and age. You need not have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night to know that simply trying to wait this out was NOT the right strategy. They're not defending the report. They're not refuting the report. No suspension. No "put on paid leave". Nothing. Pure incompetence.
  4. Yeah.... it's quite possible George Hopkins just financially crippled (and therefore, killed) The Cadets.
  5. I don't. They've known since January that this was coming. If you can't formulate a response in three months, you obviously don't have a grasp on the seriousness of the situation. Either that or they're content to turn a blind eye. It's clear that YEA is Hopkins and Hopkins is YEA. Their BOD is nothing more than a figure head put in place to simply look official. ETA: There is no getting in front of this for them now. It's strictly damage control from here on out and seeing what organizations under the umbrella get taken down with them.
  6. That DCI is ahead of YEA in releasing a statement is yet *another* sign that YEA's board seems content in going down with the ship.
  7. They’ve had at least 3 months to get out in front of this. That they’ve done nothing is not a good sign for YEA.
  8. Just re-read the article a second time and watched the videos. Kim Carter's, in particular, is heart-wrenching. #### this guy.
  9. While I hope you're right, I think it's incredibly early to make that assumption.
  10. Was just reading the article, not wanting to be the one who dropped the bomb here on DCP. Shocked, disheartened, sickened.... Doesn't begin to cover it. The ramifications of this....? Jesus.
  11. Generally, I'd agree with you. But when these titles get long winded, it has a tendency to box the concept in because it's more specific than say... "Machine", or "Tilt". It can set expectations from both an audience and adjudicating perspective. IMO, of course.
  12. I think there's a concept in there somewhere that's intriguing, but the current show title right now seems to focus the idea too much, IMO. I'm guessing it'll be tweaked as they further flesh this thing out.
  13. Actually, I was with you in wanting to see an update like JonWoody (I think) had as his avatar a while back. But yeah... the traditional uniform wouldn't lend itself to this theme. I'm not really sure I see that this one does, either. But the staff seemed a bit muddled in trying to convey exactly how the theme would be portrayed, so we'll see if this look ties things together more on the field when all is said and done. The Slenderman fingers are creepy af though.
  14. It's like Jem and the Holograms meets the Gimp from Pulp Fiction.
  15. What kind of disturbing stuff?

  16. I'm hoping this was meant as a joke. The thought of Hopkins and the Cadets' staff engaged in some sort of deep-state, false-flag attempt at throwing DCPers off the scent of a drum corps show is ridiculous, even by GH's standards.
  17. We just hosted one of the Cadet camps and their staff mentioned to us about how they will get an influx of brass auditionees after the first round or two of Crown cuts. But that's just the nature of the beast. Crown has been more consistent from a placement standpoint and much more consistent from a brass perspective. Most brass players are going to want to try their luck there first. It's not a dig. Things are always in flux and it's just the way things are currently. Hoping Cadets quickly turn back into being the 'it' corps for the East.
  18. Bloo. Still at a loss as to how that mess of a Mars show edged out Canton at finals.
  19. Cadets are well overdue for a good year. I think they regain some competitive ground this year.
  20. Best In Order of Importance: 1. 1993 - This is the year I first got a taste. 2. 1998 - This is the year I got hooked. 3. 2000 - This is the year I realized I had a problem. 4. 2005 - This is the year that put me in rehab. 5. 2011 - This is the year that reminded me of my first high. Worst In Order of... Worseness: 1. 2006 - .... No. 2. 2008 - .... Nope. 3. 2014 - .... Uh-uh. 4. 2016 - .... Move along please.
  21. Hop should've commissioned you to make the argument. This at least makes a little more sense.
