  1. Don't you think Jessica Allen is a little biased toward BD's. Ah, didn't she march with BD's?
  2. I am a huge Phantom Phan, but their visual just needs to be more CRISP, something they did not have this year. To ethereal which is consistent with their music this year. The other corps scoring above them had a more CRISP presentation. Musically, I believe Phantom beat everyone's pants off.
  3. Is this still scheduled and if so, what date and time?
  4. They have the very best music this year, the best horns, the best percussion, and yet they keep getting "dissed" by the judges. To have the kind of program they have this year and to score as they've been scoring is obscene. Maybe I'm just too much of a DCI novice. But he's what I think of the judges...... <**>
  5. No question about it: Phnatom's last extended notes at the end of the Flower Duet.
  6. Instead of having, say, the fourth ranked corps play fourth before the last appearing corps (ranked first), how about reversing the order of appearance in the finals. If these judges are so doggone prescient in their abilities, why not challenge them to score based upon a reverse order of appearance. That way, the #1 seeded corps would have to really rip a performance of their lives as would the fourth ranked corps to "better" that supposed best! Goofy idea maybe, but it sure would be interesting.
  7. Holy smokes. The instructors of the corps nearly killed those kids on Sunday and Monday after the performance on Saturday in Atlanta. They worked them for hours and hours and the kids were sweating profusely running, and puffing and panting. It was worse that Paris Island or any Marine Drill Sargeant would have imposed on new receuits!!! The venue (McEachern High School) was an excellent place for them to start really reorg'ing their GE and Visual content, but man, did they ever kick some booty with those kids. I gained a whole lot more appreciation for the tremendous dedication it takes for these kids to be a part of this program called Drum Corps. I had no idea that the tremendous amount of effort could translate into just 10ths of points on the field. The repetitiveness of the segments was brutal. Phantom's drum major is awesome in that he really looks out for the corps making sure they get the appropriate water breaks. He really models a servant leader. With regard to the program, I really love the duet that the corps does in the slower piece of the program. One of the players is a girl. I think she has the lead part. The two of them, backed up by the incredible band playing their back up, is absolutely powerful and beautiful. BRAVO.. A fan
  8. I have to agree with DCIhasbeen. The Cadets program would be infinitely better without the narration. It's clutter to an otherwise good performance. I think their score should be DISCOUNTED for the narration....
  9. Sorry, but I don't care for the Cadets program due to the incessant chatter. I think the Cadet program should be labelled, the LIBERAL AGENDA INFOMERCIAL. I believe in FREE CHOICE, I believe in being FREE TO CHOOSE....what a bunch of liberal crap! This is Drum and Bugle Corps, not some 'right coast' Democratic Party rah rah session. If these guys win, then I do not get this "sport" at all. If they would just dispense with the commentary, the show would be good. The commentary, much of which I miss and which helps distort talented musicians, is distracting and BS from a content perspective! Just my humble opinion. Caveliers were good, but seemed a bit laissez faire in Atlanta, probably why they came in third place. Blue Devils deserved to win. The first part of the program was riveting, bgut it needs work in the middle and the end. The Phantom Regiment flower duet piece was probably some of the best music I've heard---heavenly. They need to work their GE and color guard. Just some random thoughts. Sorry, Cadets! I calls them as I sees them.
  10. What's the problem this year? Is it GE? Do they have a chance of still pulling out a victory this year or are they too far behind this point in the season? Have they been pegged as one of the top three, four, or five in the collective conscience of the judging universe? The duet sounds awesome for what it's worth.
  11. 1 Phantom Regiment 79.700 2 Bluecoats 78.200 3 Madison Scouts 65.050 4 Southwind 63.550 5 Pioneer 57.150
  12. [ tHERE IS NO WAY THAT THE JUDGES SCORED THEM too high LAST YEAR. wHAT A CROCK OF PATUEY THAT IS. tHEY EARNED EVERY STINKING POINT THEY GOT. tHERE PROGRAM WAS BETTER THAN THE cAVIES, BUT THE cAVIES JUST EXECTUTED BETTER ON VISUAL. quote name=Tom Brace' date='Jun 15 2007, 06:05 PM' post='1875515] I will be looking forward to it. Love the Long Wong's!!!!!! And of course a Kiltlifter or several as well.
  13. They finish second in the World Championships and the filmographers spent 70% of the frigging coverage on the guard. If the announcers said that Phantom's show was the crowd favorite, then why the H didn't they show more of the whole corps;i.e. formations, brass, percussion. What a crock!!! Lesser corps had more coverage... I think there's a conspiracy against PR....utterly ridiculous ESPN2 coverage of the second best corps. Shameful!
  14. Without a doubt Phantom Regiment 2006....the very best of ALL time!!!
  15. [i am prejudiced, but I thought they should have won THIS year. THe CAvaliers we're incredible and their marching was matchless, but I believe that music is really more important than the marching aspect. Maybe I AM just a rookie to this whole Drum Corps stuff, but I feel that the Cavaliers marching was almost formulaic as opposed to Phantom's more lyrical marching style that complemented their musical score. Am I all wet here? I'm certainly open to intruction and my comments about Cavaliers are in no way meant to denegrate their performance this year. They were truly awesome and from a strictly marching standpoint, though formulaic, I feel, maybe they did deserve to win. Musically, I believe they lost.... utterly.
