  1. I was going to post that story. That was a great memory. Yes, we were in New Orleans together. We were together the whole of 2nd tour I think. I also remember Music of the Night being played 10 feet from me at finals retreat - so beautiful.
  2. 14 - Bluecoats - 20 - Blue Stars 22 - Carolina Crown 5 - Crossmen 29 - Madison Scouts + 28 - Phantom Regiment - 29 - Santa Clara Vanguard 29 - Troopers
  3. I think Crown is ahead of the Cadets for good - their show is simply better design and better executed (they have a better brass and guard, and should win over Cadets in GE). I think Phantom finishes 3rd, maybe 2nd. Blue Stars are likely 10th or 11th IMO. I don't see them beating Glassmen or BK. The Crossmen/Madison race is certainly interesting.
  4. I think they will be 10th or 11th. I'm most certain Glassmen and BK will beat them (that's 10th right there) and possibly Blue Stars.
  5. It was merely to illustrate. No one can tell me the Cadets and Boston were both better in the beginning of August '06 than they were at finals. The bottom line is the scores are way too high this year, and they will drop (for all but PR, BD and Cavies, with Crown remaining in the 95 range). Most likely from Bluecoats down will score lower at finals then currently - Cadets = wildcard, but I still see them not scoring above low 94 range. We usually see drops between quarters and finals for the lower finalist corps. We'll see drops on Thursday, and drops continuing through Saturday of this week.
  6. You take one away from one corps and give one to the Scouts. The numbers are on the left side. Example, the post before yours has 17 CORPS A 15 CORPS B 27 CORPS C 30 Madison Scouts You change it to say 17 CORPS A 14 CORPS B - 27 CORPS C 31 Madison Scouts + You took one away from corps B and added one to the Scouts. The next person plays off your numbers. When a corps reaches 0 - they are out.
  7. Oh, the scores of the bottom half are going to fall too. From Crown down, they will fall.
  8. Many corps throughout history have scored 2-3 points higher before finals then they ended up scoring at finals. I could look up examples all day - but here are two. 2006: Cadets 8/4: 94.60 Cadets 8/12: 93.075 Boston Crusaders 8/1: 89.150 Boston Crusaders 8/12: 87.375
  9. Sorry, I can't. Possibly Crown (I hope so). I'd love to see Crown or Phantom win it all this year. It's exciting, but SCV and Bluecoats are easily 4-5 points down from this years big 4, and it should remain that way through the end of the season, unless SCV can somehow clean that crazy drill up.
  10. Really? I'm the one who needs to check? Think again, think again. We have never had more than two corps score above 98, and 1989 was the only year in which more than one corps scored above 98. And, I think everyone can agree the 1989 scores were highly inflated (top to bottom). There's no way in hell Bluecoats or SCV are going to score above 94, and I wouldn't bet on either of them scoring much above 93. Furthermore, no 4th place corps has ever broken 97, and as of late there haven't been many 3rd place corps that have done so. In fact, the only 4th place corps to break 96 was Garfield in 1988 (96.1). If you look at scoring trends going into finals, scores usually drop for corps outside the top 3. So I would expect Crown to be mid 95 range, Cadets 94, Bluecoats in the 93.0-93.9 range and SCV 92.0 to 92.9. It's a three way race between Phantom, Cavies and BD - those three will widen the gap on Crown and below come finals - just watch.
  11. There is NO way three corps are going to score above 98, five above 97 and six above 96. I don't even think the winner is going to score above 98. Best bet IMO: Cavies, BD, PR all between 97 and 98 Crown about a 95 BD and Bluecoats from 92-93
  12. Well don't tick my boys :) Credit Crossmen all you way, but don't tick my boys!

  20. I was crazy and a lot of fun. I don' even know how that wedge unwound :) The last couple minutes of our show were always such a rush to perform - we called the jam section "the battle axes." I loved when the staff would say, "Let's take it from the battle axes to the end." Still one of the best memories of my life.
  21. Really? I have worn mine every day since finals and I show it to everybody. J/K. You are right. I actually put mine on for about a hot minute about 3 weeks ago. I was going through some boxes and found a box with all my patches, medals and ring. I hadn't seen any of it since I moved to San Francisco three years ago.
