  1. Well, being smack dab in between Pasadena and Madison, who's to say it wasn't equal?
  2. This year being the first in history to have flopped championship venue in regards to the coasts, how has show attendance changed? Thinned? Thickened? Stayed the same? Word was that Atlanta had no where as many people as last year, but what about San Antonio? And how crowded might it get in Pasadena?
  3. I believe that link will be there for all users, registered or not. It will lead you to a webcast page with details of the event including the lineup. At the top of this page will sit a link to the stream, but only will it be available to you if you are logged in and have paid.

Close if dinner is already being served.
  6. My apologies if it has been mentioned, but what was the attendance this year in comparison to last year's?
  7. Then what happens if Finals get rained out?
  8. Well that little eety bit of bliss for the Bl00 was good while it lasted.
  9. Academy will be shrouded in mystery until they come back in two weeks.
  10. I didn't mean scoring was completely out of the picture. Clearly they are a very important aspect of competition and finances. All I'm saying is that we shouldn't beat ourselves over it.
  11. But how would one define a "bad show"? Forgive me if I seem critical. I just want people to know that there is no such thing as a bad corps. It's okay to be disappointed, but we can't let it bring things down. No score is going to tell me that Madison is any less energetic or hardworking than before.
  12. It's perfectly understandable, but its exactly this mentality that is bringing down the corps beyond what it really deserves. Changes happen, but we must move on from them. IMO, corps should never fold just because of how they score.
  13. Both Scouts and Cascades have a good chance if they work hard and clean. Both programs are demanding and if executed well, they are prime for Semis. But I refuse to make a prediction until a regional.
  14. Okay, I can't hold it in anymore. For those of you freaking out and moping over the scores, you have just lost the true meaning of the art of drum and bugle corps. For decades, what have bugle, drum, and fife corps been doing? They have been entertaining. They have shown the art of pageantry in the outdoors, combined athleticism with musicianship. Even when DCI's first days rolled around, it was all about cheering for your home town corps, shouting with excitement at what the corps gave you, and giving standing ovations. Competition may be one thing, but do we allow that to take us and hinder us from truly being entertained? After all, do we go to shows to be entertained by the corps or do we go just to see how they place? Because if its the latter, then I can tell you that there is little joy in celebrating this activity. Over the past decade, we have been continuously arguing and blabbering our chatter over the scores. Every time I log in here, all we talk about is who's going to win, who scored better, who ranks higher, etc. What in the world happened to "who made us appreciate this art of entertainment"? We have allowed judging and scoring to take the pure aspect of why this activity is so great. Some of you say, "Scouts may not make semis!" or "Madison is in the bottom ranks!" Is that why you cheer for them? Is that why you enjoy them? In the mid-90s, the Scouts brought some of the most exciting moments to DCI but they didn't win. Fans still loved them. Does scoring lower make a bad show? Some of you might argue that its history, tradition, competition that makes this activity great. That is true. Great tradition rests in many of our corps today, but when we let that govern our ability to appreciate a simply eleven minutes of music, passion, and visual art, then what does tradition matter? Sure the Scouts may have scored much higher in the past, but does that change their ability to entertain? Are you going to like a show because of what a judge says?

  17. Wow, they did great even with the accident. Man, that gap between 7th and 8th is widening.
  18. It would be easier for one to chatter through a ballad than a loud booming voice warning people to shut the hell up. And if that doesn't work, a light tap on the shoulders or a reminder for peace and quiet is appropriate. It's enough to make them feel ashamed. If that fails, you can always find an usher or some other security personnel that actually has the power to remove such people.
  19. The fact that they're making a stand and proclaiming that they can contend for top three.
