  1. I know this is not a musical or anything... but I would like to see a corps do "The Ten Commandments".... eh? EH!?
  2. PR brass... simply orgasmic and Cavaliers' sweet intonation
  3. When I first marched horn for impulse in 01, I played euph. We had Kanstul euphs and they were beasts!! I got used to carrying them, which took a while but then they moved me to 3rd bari, so I marched a baritone that year. I believe we had like 12 baritones and 4 euphoniums thats year and I also remember that the upper leads, 3 of them, had King Two Valve horns lol... there was definitely diversity amongst the instruments. After that year, I agreed never to hold a horn again lol so I played snare drum and still marched corps ;)
  4. Try this one.... http://vkyao.org/fullforcepercussion

  6. Cavaliers- I think they would do good with another Original Show... maybe something called "Equations"... with music inspired by Calculus or something weird like that... Phantom Regiment- Holsinger's Easter Symphony, At The Strongholds of En Gedi Cadets- To Tame The Perilous Skies... with crazy drill like way back when
  7. Ok... here I go... Does Blue Devils 2000 count? I mean, they got 3rd place, but technically, its 2nd place to me ;) Cavaliers 2003 Star 1993 Phantom 2006 ;) Cadets 1997 Blue Devils 2001 Cadets 1994 Cadets 1992 Cavaliers 1990 Phantom 1989
  8. Obviously, the traditional grip was started way back, in the Civil War days, if not even MORE way back when. i find to be more relaxing on the left hand. I guess its just up the percussion instructor's preference whether to use it or not. It may look weird, but I personally find it very cool. If you want into more details about it, it is more relaxing on the muscles of the left forearm and wrist to play higher and angle the stick downward. Also, it gives a more relaxed feel to the right arm as well. When you play tradish on a flat drum, you gotta stick that right elbow out in order to get the right technique to play it. But when using a tilted drum, that right elbow is relaxed but yet, you can still use that power from your right arm for those accents and shots. Like I said, its a personal opinion, I find it very relaxing. Most of the schools and even the Indepedent line I teach here in So Cal are using the tilted snare "gimmick".

  14. To the snareline when I marched after the outside snare forgot a part... "You forgot? YOU FORGOT!? How can you forget something so important? Its like having sex, THEN putting the condom on!! 'Oh my bad baby, I forgot...' "
  15. For semis tonite.... Cavaliers - 97.425 Blue Devils - 97.175 Phantom - 96.950 Cadets- 94.575 Coats- 93.500 SCV- 93.425
  16. By looking at past recaps from the Regional Shows, thats how I came up with my conclusion. Phantom has been exceeding in percussion and have had a significant jump since from the 2nd regional to the recent one. Cavaliers brass and has just been amazing and almost full pointed BD at one show. It will be close between Devs and Cavies in Visual Performance, but I think Cavies will definitely win the GE caption overall. Percussion on the other hand, Phantom is just throwing down this year, but also bluecoats may have a chance, and Devs as well. So it will be close in that area as well. Guard, I have to say devs... their guard is just clean as ####...
  17. Guess the drum scores for finals night... Cavaliers- Blue Devils- Phantom Regiment- Bluecoats- Santa Clara Vanguard- Madison Scouts- Cadets-
