  1. I'm not questioning whether the new BOD are "well selected" or not. That being said, I do feel people have a right to know the "process" YEA used to select and appoint them. For example, since the entire Board resigned, who has the authority to name new members. I also haven't seen or heard the title "transitional" applied to or used by BOD members. Your assumptions concerning the process used to select BOD members may be entirely accurate,or they may not be. So far, all anyone here has are suppositions. YEA wants to restore trust in their organization. Personally I think this would be one step in that direction.
  2. I originally posted this on the Cadets 2018 thread, since it dealt with the YEA Town Hall video there. Anyway,I couldn't find it,so I figured I'd start a new topic. I apologize if this question has come up in the 400 plus pages on GH. The YEA Town Hall Video talks about the new Board of Director members. The YEA website provides the background of the new Board of Directors. What i can't see to find is who selected these individuals,or how they became BOD members. Does anyone know who selected them and what was the process to name them as Board members ?
  3. This is kind of "old news". DCI posted this on April 29,and its been hashed out on the other Cadets' threads.
  4. The problem with trying to add the Cadets to the Tour Premiere would be the timing of the show, primarily the Fathom broadcast. With it being indoors, you can pretty much "lock down" its running time,so theaters can schedule after it. Adding another corps not only increases the length of the show itself, but requires the announcers to spend time to address the "elephant in the room" in detail. I would think that, now that they won't be on the West coast, the Cadets will now appear at their July 5 show.
  5. I have similar issues with pronating. I find that new Balance and Aiscs Trail Running Shoes work really well. I also use "arch" insoles. They helped with the pronating. I agree with the "break in " comments. I always have 2 pairs of "sneakers' that I alternate.
  6. I wasn't sure where to post this, and didn't think it justified a new thread. There's been a number of posts here on Stuart Rice and his "work". Some of us aren't all that "technically astute" when it comes to the nuances of marching. So could someone(s) please post,in a "Reader's Digest" condensed version, what PLanar Analysis is supposed to be.
  7. There seem to be 2 separate issues YEA has to deal with. First is GH and any/all legal issues. The Chicago law firm would deal with that. Second is YEA's financing. I would think that would include an audit by an accounting firm.
  8. To me DCI's probationary status isn't what could affect the ability to tour this summer. What I think could potentially affect the Cadets touring ,as well as all YEA programs, is their current financial situation. I presume ,since all the BOD members are new, their knowledge of YEA's financial situation was limited to the same public information everyone else could see. I would hope that, by now,the BOD has engaged a Forensic Accountant to determine exactly where YEA stands financially. As long as they are on a sound financial footing, there should be nothing to prevent them from touring.
  9. I would think a lot would depend on how YEA and their programs are structured. its unclear,at least from YEA's website, how YEA's programs fall within their "umbrella". It could go as far as YEA owning the "rights" to the corps name.
  10. Could you please elaborate on what exactly "de facto emergency fund" means.
  11. If I'm correct, and if I'm not,I'm sure someone will point it out,501(c)3 organizations like YEA are required, upon request ,to provide their 3 most recent 990 forms. I don't know how detailed these documents are,but that should give some indication of the YEA's financial stability, I would also be surprised,if this is in fact public information, the Inquirer or some other media entity isn't going to request it.
  12. I'm getting this information from comments made on this site and others. Unless I'm misreading : 1.DCI has placed The Cadets on probation, and has the authority to suspend the corps for the season. 2.There have been concerns about the financial stability of the organization, before the GH story broke. I can't see this situation improving their finances. 3.If accusations against YEA ,like what happened to Mr. King, continue,it may be tough to maintain any sense of stability in YEA. So ,there does seem to be the possibility, that the Cadets and/or Cadets2 may not tour. My post only asked what happens to their home shows,if they don't .
  13. From everything I've been reading ,there does seem to be at least the possibility that the Cadets and/or the Cadets2 may have to cancel their 2018 tours. If that's the case, how do they handle their home shows? The corps and venues are all booked. I would think that YEA could still hold the shows, just absent the home corps. Kind of like what Clifton was going to be.
  14. Hence my "But . . ." . I don't think is going away any time soon. My posts on this thread have only dealt with the corps, and their potentially having to deal with this on tour. Any comments I have on the whole GH issue I have/will post on the other thread.
  15. I don't disagree about America's attention span. That's why I said it depends on how this story evolves. If the Inquirer doesn't come out with more articles,or if nothing comes out about other corps, it may fade over time. But . . .
  16. I don't know how significant of a development this really is. The statement says "in this matter" not they are no longer representing GH. I don't know what the relationship is/was between GH and this lawyer. It could be that this lawyer represented GH ,but is not an expert in these types of legal matters and was just a "place holder" till he could hire one. I know this happens all the time in my business ,when we deal with land use applications for large corporations. Corporate attorneys will handle some initial "leg work",but then the company will hire an outside attorney, who is an expert in land use, to do the heavy lifting.
  17. There's another thread about corps responding to the Inquirer article. They all mention policies/procedures they have concerning this type of situation. Does anyone know if The Cadets had similar rules in place ? If so,they didn't seem to help the alleged victims. Seems to me,it not having rules, its making sure they are followed/enforced.
  18. I'm not sure. You're talking about someone with female genitalia so you get into all kinds of potential predicaments, especially if you have have corps members who are minors.
  19. I read the Medium article on this. Does anyone know how co-ed corps deal with this. For example did he shower with the male or female corps members.
  20. I disagree that the corps was not prepared to respond to a "request of this nature". The article says that the corps uses the sex on someone's birth certificate to determine eligibility. That's a pretty clear policy. It would be interesting to see if this policy is in their bi-laws.
  21. Was wondering. Is there any rule that, if someone marched with a DCI corps, they couldn't march with a DCA corps after the DCI season was over ?
  22. As far as I know the Rule/Policy has to do with announcing staff changes not making them. So ,the staff may have been changing by the time retreat was over.
  23. I know that DCI put a Rule in place that staff changes can't be announced until next Tuesday. Anyone know what,if any penalty DCI could impose if the rule is broken?
  24. I'd like to raise a different issue with A&E. Is there any time limit for a corps to straighten out problems with their A&E equipment when they set up? Several corps had issues getting their A&E equipment to work.At one show it was over 5 minutes they were waiting, after the corps was set. Just wondered if there is a penalty if they don't get the equipment working in "x' amount of time or if the judges can say "start",electronics or not ?
