  1. Yes/No the evil is making this a priority at this time. Maybe politics and posture would be a better description. There is no good that comes from this course of action. DCP & Reddit is all over this. There is no defense to this. No posters trying to explain the motives in a positive light, the end of the road dci rules nothing else matters. Also your mailbox is full.
  2. Anyone who has a problem with dci is more evil than this fine man, he was doing the right thing.
  3. Is this upside down. Heavy Handed, how about a heartfelt response to a bad situation. It's upside because this is how the G7 corps who were called out by the press should have responded. And you get fired for it. There are a lot more evil people going after dci than this fine man they are not focused on the real threats.
  4. Over the top. Follow the Money it opens one eyes, not a trend dci wanted set. The fine lines between right & wrong are really blurred with this lesson. They had camps set, flights purchased, parents have hotels booked real-life exposure. All that down the drain. This is something you handle privately a slap on the wrisk then leave it with grins & giggles. It's a symbolic gesture on dci's part no harm was done to the activity. How far out of touch is the DCP veterans we loved the offer. What real harm would it have been to say don't do it again? Dci is being exposed as to what it is, a greedy company. They keep their hand in the MMs pocket for life, who else buys that old stuff it's coming full circle I am sure the Press will be all over this one.
  5. It is with sadness that I announce my resignation as CEO/Corps Director of Arsenal Performing Arts. This journey began three years ago with a plan. That plan became a drum corps. That drum corps became a family. I began Arsenal with the goal of giving young people the tools they need to succeed. I knew it would be a hard road, but I had high hopes that our vision would attract other people and that together we could build something great. On Sunday, following a return from the Drum Corps International Annual Meeting, I made a social media post on Reddit that expressed solidarity with the members of the Oregon Crusaders and Pioneer organizations and admonished the leaders who had put their students in harm’s way. This post was made with the best possible intentions and offered students from those corps a home with Arsenal. This post was made following a sleepless week, and while it was meant to be a bright light in a dark time, it resulted in the suspension of Arsenal’s Open Class evaluation by DCI for the 2019 season. 2019 marks Arsenal’s third year in existence. It marks three years of me trying my hardest to do right by my students, and to create an organization that could lead by example. But it also marks three years of me working full-time without pay, spending thousands of dollars of my own money to support the corps, and giving up substantial opportunities in order to remain in Albuquerque and build the organization. I do not regret doing these things, but the decision to suspend our evaluation has put me in a position to reevaluate where I am in my life and where I want to go. Simply put, running Arsenal has been a great burden on me, especially in terms of my mental health. To go forward into an uncertain future, with a dark cloud hanging over the organization, simply is not a choice I can make in good conscience. While I love the SoundSport program dearly, I cannot continue to run Arsenal and support myself without a strong membership, and that membership simply cannot exist within the SoundSport model. I will support the Arsenal Board of Directors moving forward, and will help them to either find a new director to take my place, or to sell Arsenal’s assets to cover the organization’s debts prior to dissolution. I am thankful to all of the wonderful sponsors who stepped forward to support Arsenal; to the strangers who stood with us; to the students who took the risk to become members of an organization that was unproven but hungry. And above all I am thankful to all the people who trusted me: a 23-year-old with a dream, a pair of hands, and the desire to give back to my community. I will end this by saying that I stand by the sentiments I expressed in the original Reddit post. Drum Corps students pay thousands of dollars and endure countless physical hardships for the sake of participating in this activity. It is disgusting that there are people who take advantage of these students; who jeopardize their mental and physical health out of gross negligence, lack of foresight, and perversion. Student health and safety should never take a backseat to the preservation of a brand, and I will always stand on the field with the students, rather than in the press box. To all of Arsenal’s students, staff, sponsors and volunteers: with my fist to my heart, I salute you. 6969
  6. No there was no review the application was not scheduled to be completed till early spring. This is an arbitrary decision by dci to stop the application process. They had nothing to review. Something happened between the Arenal Director on Sunday posting on Reddit how great the meetings were and was happy with the direction dci is heading. (I will look for the post) Then the bright idea that all of us loved came out about the offer and now this. It paints it's own picture.
  7. IMO opinion he was fired for the non-inclusive tour fees. Giving Pio & OC a reduction. The big babies do not what that kind of creativity (way out of the box). The uproar could have come from within (why am I paying more) Or other corps directors didn't like it or another outside source I have been following Arsenal. Posted a quote about their progress summing up a great meeting. This did not happen until after the discount was announced and not till OC announced going inactive. According to Arsenal, their application would not be presented to DCI till early spring dci had noting to reject. They were turned down before the application. What else could it be? What about their status in sound sport?
  8. Thanks for the like MikeD it was a relife. Your one good teacher. When your posts come back at me I feel like I am in detension in HS (my major), keep it up I need it.
  9. I am not reading that into you posts. It's the "Fred Has No Defense". The defense the Pats will use Sunday.. For me it's the fine line they walk betwwen his two functions within the youth-activity. What message are they sending? They have not explained how the intergity of the BOD is more important than direct contact with the kids? Heck we can't even figure it out they need to explain this without all the double talk.
  10. Usually don't post two funnies back to back but they are making fun of DCP on Reddit, I don't know what we did to them but I think its funny!!! [–]starstarstar42 [score hidden] an hour ago I do not like these new style corps I do not like cylindrical bores "Would you like them with some dance?" I would not like it when they prance! "Would you like them with some 'bones?" I would not like them kicking cones! I do not like their young firm buns I do not like corps, Acheson.
  11. Hockey Dad you forgot about the promotion to Asst Director. Wonder what the time line was there? Meaning was dci already aware of the bigger picture and this guy gets a promotion?
  12. IMO the innoicent discovery of a printed receipt is a deversion. Justifing why they know, hiding how the info was really obtained? Protecting someone else or heard a rumor to that affect. None of us know what Fred did. We do know it was enough to get him kicked off the board but in a grey area as to his job with Crossmen? Dci reasoned their stance on Fred when they introduced the New Chair Person. I may have missed a post that happend when he resigned? The resonsing in the other post made no sense. Does Crossmen need to explain why he is still there, clear the air to move forward?
  13. Hey, his name is Chad what more does Andy need. He has a "Chad"
  14. Your right I was a big Four Seasons fan anyway we need more sound bites than silence right now
  15. Does this affect the drums more than the horns? With the drum lines in the back more so than the horns. Will the pit feel more pressure? Will it drive innovation w/o the judges being on top of them?
  16. Can't say we didn't see this coming, those Garfunkle guys "Silence Is Golden" but not in this case.
  17. You talking about the Pats? It's going to be cold in Arrowhead subzero may be another ice bowl. The Ole Aumni defense worked out well, have any other tips for Andy?
  18. So true, OC's predicament should be a warning to all corps. It takes the proper transparency, full disclosure, response to negative press, get the word out there take the hit and move on. The focus dci just placed on the issue is commendable, updates with more details could only help. The activity needs a positive focus to counter any negative trends. Stay afloat keep the pressure on.
  19. Reminds me of a famous quote from wrestling Yea Man - CM Punk quoted on DCP, go figure! "I've grabbed so many of Vince McMahon's imaginary brass rings, that it's dawned on me that they're just that. Completely imaginary" - CM Punk's shoot feels more relevant now than it did then.
  20. In the private sector, all you need to do is get close to retirement and you could be fired for appreciating in salary too much, think they call that downsizing, been there. To your point, a few adults making poor decisions right now could take the whole thing down. Thinking they are preserving their own livelihood may be fools gold at this point. We can only hope for the best.
  21. Warmups were commonplace back then except 84 Cadets, First warmup of the year was right before their Victory Run.
  22. Yes, I see that good for Promark but there are a lot of his sticks out there on other resellers stores/sites they must be some good sticks.
  23. Great the Amazon statement (more to come) just pops up when something is running out. Maybe we don't need a stick recall but I am going to keep watch anyway. I know the folks from Pro Mark by staying in same hotel and they are good people didn't want to start a thread just wonering what was their reaction. Thanks
