  1. Actually... from the recap, crown's weakest areas included brass performance and music ensemble... 7th place in both. Isn't it funny that many times, these two things about Crown are amped up so much? Yet, when it comes time to put up, the judges have them in 7th. The question is, are the judges deaf? Or are we? What are they hearing that many of the Crown fans certainly do not?
  2. Here's an interesting question... what does everyone think of Crown's "music ensemble" compared to the other "top 7" corps. When I listen to the recording, I can't find even one ensemble problem, balance, timing, or otherwise. With others, I can find plenty. Yet, Crown finished 7th in music ensemble. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
  3. Ok, but seriously... is no one going to actually comment on what the show is? How bout this... in all seriousness... what would you like to see Crown do this year?
  4. But seriously... I hear they do this wierd thing where they split up their brass into two groups... a sort of accelerated and non-accelerated... can anyone elaborate?
  5. Yes... the Carolina Crown, along with every single other drum corps is poised for their BEST YEAR EVER!
  6. I would love to hear an announcer with a lisp announce this show... ... "Thpartacuth"... :)
  7. Wow... they're making some good decisions out there...
  8. What is the biggest factor that makes a certain hornline your "favorite"?
  9. The Devils won the Jim Ott... certainliy a great brass program. Not involving scores, or who you would give that Jim Ott to, who was your favorite hornline of the 07 season?
  10. BD: Additive, WGI-esque with full corps body battery part. Cadets: Blue Shades hit. Cavies: Fugal section Phantom: Ballad full brass release. SCV: Crown: First Hit, Last Hit, Acapella brass section in ballad, William Tell Fanfare Bluecoats: Any drum solo... great battery. And the silent drill.
  11. I've heard it... it's a neat effect, but compared to the rest of their show, it lacks clarity.
  12. It doesn't get much better than Bob Chreste... I can't wait to hear the difference in their sound!
  13. What do you hope to see happen in 2008? For me... I want to see Crown and Bluecoats together in the top 3. Probably won't happen, but man that would be cool.
  14. I just don't agree... SCV wasn't as clean or entertaining as Crown or Bloo... half the time, I couldn't tell what was going on in SCV's music ensemble, or what I was supposed to be listening to... I guess I just don't understand what the judges saw, because I must have been looking somewhere completely different... which is probably the reason I'm not a DCI judge :)
  15. I see a lot of people putting SCV in 4th or even 3rd... why?
  16. If you were the judge on finals night, and had complete control over every caption... how would you have ranked the 4-7 corps? For me... 4th - Crown 5th - Bluecoats 6th - Phantom Regiment 7th - SCV Thoughts?
  17. 2007... 4-7 was anyone's game. For me, it should have been like this... 7th - SCV 6th - Regiment 5th - Bluecoats 4th - Crown Either way... with .8 tenths total spread between 4th adn 7th... it was pretty much a 4-way tie.
  18. If they could get the Baritones and Tubas to project a "little" bit more, then I would say the Yamaha brand is perfect. Even so... Yamaha. The high brass is unbeatable.
  19. I'd say... 75 trumpets, and one of everything else :)
  20. That recap confuses me a little in regards to Crown's Brass... 7th in Brass, and even more so... 7th in music ensemble? How is that possible? They play better together than anything I've heard in a long time, including the 6 corps that placed in front of them on finals night in that caption... can someone please help me understand this?
  21. The Bluecoats in 7th? People picked them to win early season... what happened?
