  1. Wow... You really don't know what you're talking about, do you...
  2. Crown WAS beaten in brass last night! I'm glad SOMEBODY finally got it right... thanks George Boulden. GO BLOOO!
  3. Thank you, StickTrick. I'm glad SOMEONE on here appreciates true musicianship and cutting-edge drum corps. Go BLOO!
  4. I had the chance to see the Bluecoats and Crown this summer already, and let me tell you, there is not enough "breathe-dah" pixie dust in the world to stop the Bluecoats! GO BLOOO!!!

  7. Is this seriously a discussion? The answer is clear. 1987. Period. Close thread.
  8. They are strong, no question... but just because you can hear them above the ensemble doesn't make them great, nay the best.
  9. 2004 - Arguably the best "top 3" of all time 2008 2000 2006 2007 2004 2003 2005 2001
  10. To a point, the judges aren't judging the fantastic brass sound you're hearing... they are judging CONSISTENCY; of articulation, sound quality, dynamics, inflection, etc... And not only that, but they do it on the field, a place you are not. My thoughts are that the judges heard, at field level, the regiment and devils be more consistent player to player than Crown. Do I think from the stands that Crown has the best brass section? Sure. At field level, where the Ott is won... not sure.
  11. 1) Crown... all of Claire de Lune 2) Regiment... "I am Spartacus". 3) Bluecoats... Shout Chorus 4) Bluecoats... Speed Bag Perc Feature 5) Crown... Opening Hit/1812 to End (or Finis)
  12. Without question... Cadets 2000 Quad Feature. Innovative, challenging, and #### clean.
  13. Here's finals... 1) Crown 2) Holy Name 3) Blue Devils 4) Cavaliers 5) Regiment 6) Vanguard 7) Blue Stars 8) Bluecoats 9) Blue Knights 10) Madison 11) Boston 12) Troopers
  14. Ya see... I just have a hard time buying this one... More than anything else, with many of the top groups... The Cavaliers, The Devils, Regiment, etc... I get a completely different presentation and projection than I do from Crown. And I speak less about the show concepts (although I do think this applies in that regard), but more about the general performance quality of the corps itself. I just don't think that Crown gives off the same "electric" performances I've seen from groups like Regiment, or the Devils. And to be totally honest, no matter how well they play (which I acknowledge, they do play well...) I just don't see them winning until they are able to really pull off that "electric" performance quality... ... I don't know... maybe it's just me... ... that, and I think this whole "breathe-dah" philosophy their brass section worships just isn't all it's cracked up to be...
  15. 1. Crown 2. Cadets 3. Regiment 4. Devils 5. Cavies 6. Vanguard 7. Blue Stars 8. Bluecoats 9. Blue Knights 10. Madison 11. Boston 12. Glassmen
  16. 1. A show that they had done before and were known to do... 2. A show with a story line, with characters already indicative of the character of the corps itself. 3. Music that was not only memorable, but fit well with the kind of sound that Regiment's hornline plays with. The end.
  17. Anyone who thinks that Crown's horn book is not one of the most difficult brass programs in the activity needs to seriously reconsider what they consider to be "difficult". Period, the end.
  18. 1. Crown. Call it a hunch. 2. Cadets. If they go back to what they do well, they will be on fire. 3. Regiment. Another very strong corps with lots of talent, but no show can really follow "Spartacus" 4. Devils. Clean, clean, clean, but the loosely related effects don't bode well with the judges... or the fans. 5. Cavaliers. Solid design, but not as clean as previous years. 6. Blue Stars. Surprise, surprise. With the additions in percussion and some fixes in guard, along with another strong design, these kids will be on fire. 7. Vanguard. Staff changes... with a strong show, this corps gains momentum for the future. 8. Bluecoats. Major staff changes... and a lot of new members. Not predicting great things for the boys in blue. 9. BK. Always strong, but not so clean. Boring shows. 10. Boston. These kids too... always strong, but not so clean. 11. Madison. Continuing to build momentum with vintage shows 12. Troopers. Back in finals.
