  1. I just can't get enough of this show and it will go down for me at one of my all time favorites. The whole show, start to end is amazing and that closer, well does it get any better? That nasty hit right at the end of the pitch blend before the final chord is freaking awesome. Congratulations indeed on a show you didn't have to try making sense of, it just plain worked!
  2. Awesome, Todd Herrick was my instructor in High School. His older brother Dave (Sundance) was also one of my instructors before Todd was. Loved those guys! Dave was a trip and have vivid memories of his pep talks before shows. Awesome!
  3. Yep, it does seem silly. Cadets line is amazing as always and I think the good judges come finals night will get it right.
  4. I wouldnt get too excited until Atlanta. Scores are pretty meaningless when no other corps in your tier level aren't competing head to head.
  5. The 8 snare line that was intended for this year ended with a meniscus tear. And they were marching 4 tenors much of the season.
  6. I saw them in LaCrosse last Saturday and the effect is definitely softer than the horns, but as far as it being totally lost, nope. It's still very effective live, in fact there wasn't a person sitting down after that sequence. It is awesome live! I do however think the effect could be louder.
  7. Last time I checked Mason wasn't writing drill, heading up the guard department or arraigning music.
  8. Yes, they were trying to see the Cadets that were hiding behind that stage. The Great Wall of Allentown
  9. Also it looked like Hop was really enjoying his blocked view of 99% of his corps from the sidelines. Get rid of the stage! It's more than silly.
  10. Yep. They are definitely clean and the drumline had a fantastic night but the crowd didn't dig it nearly as much as most of all the other world class corps. That stage in front of the field is a miss and frankly takes tons away from the other 149 people on the field. Probably looks super from a helicopter though.
  11. I would say in person this show is much better (entertainment wise) than on video. That said, the white really exposes the marching/choreography weaknesses in the corps. I guess as a life long fan, my concern is more why they have not improved placement wise. Looks like another 9 th -10 th place show this year. Not that that's a horrible thing, but it would be nice to see some major changes that would mimic what Corps above them are doing artistically and design wise. You have to look no farther than this years Cavaliers to realize what a new direction can do for success. Either way, I love the Scouts and know they are busting their tails everyday.
  12. 84 Cadets, 88 Scouts, 93 Star, 95 Cavies, 99 Scouts, 2000 Cadets, 2006 Cavies, 2014 Bluecoats
  13. I've introduced many little kids to the activity. I recently took my girlfriends 12 year old daughter and a young man from down the road who plays trumpet to Drums on Parade a few weeks ago. They were super impressed as I knew they would be. Fans for life. I don't know, I started this topic and just find many people at shows just not very talkative. I freaking love drum corps and love talking about it, just surprised there's not more like me.
  14. Yes, but not quite as bad as it has been of late. Thanks for the tips on SUTA and PUTA, think I figured it out. What about Spoolie?
  15. I find it odd as well. Maybe I'll try the cologne BRASSO speaks of. Lol.
  16. I've been attending shows since the mid 80s and have noticed over the years how unapproachable many drum corps fans are. I am a very engaging person and always make small talk about the Corps to people is sit next to. I am very courteous at all times including performances. The one thing I've noticed, and frankly am very turned off by is the very impersonal people I always seem to sit next to. It seems like if you didn't march with that specific person, they are not really interested in your conversation. I've never seen this at any sporting event, but at every DCI event I go to, it's the same. What gives here? Apparently I'm not part of any brotherly fraternity, don't know what SUTA or Spoolie means, but spend thousands each year watching a very entertaining activity. Frankly, it's a major turn off for me. This would also include soovie booths, food lines and bathroom lines. Help me out here!
  17. And my shameless 500th post while we wait on scores.
  18. That is for the great photos. The Troop DM pic is outstanding.
