  1. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! This is my first time checking out that new ending and that is absolutely AMAZING. I mean I know I marched there, but I still wonder how they all do that!! They deserve MAD props (sorry for the Northeast lingo lol) for the end of that show. CONGRATULATIONS!!
  2. I agree. I think many people are missing what once was the importance of the retreat in the first place. Technically, it's not a time to be screwing around. But this is 2008, and I do realize corps have their own thing, and I respect that. But there are certain lines (figuratively) that should not be crossed.
  3. Where did you see it? I haven't been able to check it out yet.
  4. Funny thing is, I was thinking the same thing. But this is very important so I can see why people feel the way they do.
  5. This is what it all comes down to. Class. These are the stories of which we need to hear more.
  6. You would have won that bet. I need to learn to specify that.
  7. 1. Cadets - Fell in love with them when I first saw them live in 1996. Marched with them, won with them, etc. The main thing I love about them is the uniform. There is just something about they way that uniform moves on the field that just drives me nuts. Plus I love how the drill pushes them to the limits. 2. Cavaliers - I fell in love with them after seeing their show in 2000 (on the finals video). They just have this "it" thing which I cannot describe, but it keeps me looking forward to what they bring to the field year after year. 3. SCV - Sheer Class. The way they move. The way they present themselves. If I didn't love The Cadets so much during my marching days, I would have definitely marched there. I really have no more favorites. These three are pretty much it for me.
  8. Just saying. It's not about what kind of sticks you have. It's how you use the ones you got. Or IS it? I am not a drummer so maybe I wouldn't know.
  9. What is the criteria for being the "best"? Are we going by the amount of times the corps has been in the top 6? The amount of times they have been in top 12? The amount of times they have come close to the title?
  10. I know what it is. I'm just trying to lighten up this dark thread.
  11. It's great to hear people voice so much appreciation for what the Cadets have put on the field as far as the endings of their shows are concerned. I know when I saw them in 1997 and saw that crazy drill at the end of the show, I was hooked. I knew I wanted to be apart of that. When we got that new ending drill to the show in 2000, I knew it was going to be tough, but I also knew it would be something that everyone would love. I am looking forward to seeing what they bring to the field next year because I am confident that they will bring the crowd back to their feet next year.
  12. Actually I was going to name that show. I loved it. Also, my favorite is 2007, the end of the opener when the entire corps comes forward with sound as powerful as an earthquake. I have blasted that moment on my TV many times almost to the point of being kicked out of my apartment.
  13. Wow, I thought this was all friendly debate. Anyways, as far as narration being "dead", I just hope Cadets choose to use it sparingly, or not at all. They are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better without it.
  14. That sounds like more of a plausible explanation as I don't believe corps members of ANY corps would be that disrespectful to fall into any other corps' block.
  15. I also think it looks pretty cool. I think it looks better than the one I have. I think the corps who won it are more focused on the fact that they won rather than what the medal looks like.
  16. Tell us something we don't know. Geez, we've heard enough about narration. It sucks. We know it. In fact, there is another thread about it. NOW, back to the drums, I don't know much about Colin or Ian, but I am hoping they do well with Cadets. They have some HUGE shoes to fill.
  17. Don't hate, appreciate. Besides, sans the narration, there is a lot of great music being played. My top 5: 1. Cadets 2000 2. Cavies 2006 3. Cavies 2003 4. Cadets 2001 5. Crown 2007
