  1. Speaking of electronics, there's one moment in the "Spartacus" show where it might have been necessary. Early in the year, during the opener, the drum major would turn to the audience and yell "LIVE, OR DIE??" As the season wore on, people started to yell during that part, and you couldn't hear him say it. I think that they should have mic'd that one part for the drum major to be heard over crowd noise. Oh well. They won. Who cares?
  2. forgive me for asking, but what are you talking about?
  3. I remember seeing that for the first time at Finals. Oh, no he didn't!! haha My favorites: -1989: Pretty much the entire show! -1993: The snares charge the sideline at the end of the show, scaring the hell out of the percussion judge. Haha -1996: The drill at the end of the opener. Blob straight to triangle. AWESOME! -2003: The percussion cutting through the hornline towards the end of the opener. -2005: It's rhapsody in blue!! What more do you want?? -2008: The "300" esk scene with the color guard facing their shields toward the hornline army.
  4. Hey. I'm curious to know what you're favorite Phantom Regiment moments are. The crab-stepping from 1993? Pachabel's Canon in 2003? Classic moments in the 70s and 80s? Favorite ballads? Favorite shows? Everything Phantom Regiment! What do you guys think?
  5. 1. Phantom Regiment 2008 - "Spartacus" 2. Cadets 1987 - "Appalachian Spring" 3. Cavaliers 2000 - "Niagra Falls" 4. Carolina Crown 2007 - "Triple Crown" 5. Bluecoats 2004 - "Mood Swings" 6. Madison Scouts 1997 - "The Pirates of Lake Mendota" 7. Blue Devils 2006 - "The Godfather: Part Blue" 8. Santa Clara Vanguard 1999 - "Innovations for a New Millennium" 9. Blue Knights 2007 - "Dark Dances: the music of Shostakovich" 10. Boston Crusaders 2003 - "Bravo"
  6. from what I've seen, here's my top 4: 4. Phantom Regiment 1997: why did they have to put a big star on the front of their uniforms? Why? 3. Carolina Crown 2003-2006: sorry. never cared for it. 2. Southwind 2006 and before: thought those hats were the ugliest thing ever. 1. Glassmen 1993: so pretty! (flicks wrist)
  7. Phantom Regiment 1991 and how 'bout Bluecoats 2007? (rolls R's)
  8. I blame it on Viacom. Ever since they stepped in, youtube's been cracking down on this stuff a lot. A lot of drum corps videos have disappeared ever since then.
  9. I actually just wrote DCI an email requesting just this!! I completely agree, because so much of the beginning storyline is in their entrance. For example, the lead drum major shakes one of the assistant drum major's hand, and when he goes to shake the other's hand, he just turns away. I remember seeing that for the first time at finals. Oh, no he didn't!! lol P.S. I forgot about some of the other corps pre-performance stuff. Blue Stars' warm-up tune in the endzone! Heavenly! Everyone, write DCI and request this!!!
  10. Phantom Regiment: Change nothing!! Maybe, just maybe, bring back you're all black uniforms. I miss those days Blue Devils: I loved the look you had this year. I can't really think of anything to change. Cavaliers: Like other people have said, more horn book. I admit that I love the visuals, and the drumline, but when you guys play, it sounds SWEET! Carolina Crown: Nothing really needs to be changed. I'd like to see a change in tone possibly. Try a topic that is mean, and hard-hitting, more in-your-face. That may be what you'll need next year to break the top 3, or even win! Cadets: I bet you're thinking that I'm going to say take the narration out. Not necessarily. I actually don't mind the narration as much as everyone else does. But, there's something different about this year's narration, and show in general, compared to 2007. Unlike "This I Believe", the narration and story line of "Pursuit of Happiness" didn't really fit the visual, and the music. The show looked like it was all pulled out of George Hopkins' butt at the last minute. So, yes, taking the narration out would definitely be good, but if you use it, make sure it all fits together. Bluecoats: I don't know what needs to be changed, if anything. You guys are awesome. I do miss the white pants, though. SCV: The show this year was something that I would never imagine the Vanguard would ever do. Sure, the visual was excellent, and music was good. I don't know. It just didn't have the..."oomph"....that "Eureka" had. Blue Stars: I was a little disappointed that you ditched the trademark helmet for the traditional marching hat. Please bring that back. Other than that, you guys are looking, and sounding, superb! Blue Knights: Love it. Boston Crusaders: I've always loved their look. But this year's show? It was okay. They had their theme, but no real theatrics to the theme. Nothing really special. I don't really know what they can change, though. Glassmen: A HUGE step in the right direction for Glassmen. It was a great show that really tied together very well. It's a shame they had to be beat by the Crusaders. Oh well. Madison Scouts: WELCOME BACK, CYMBAL LINE!! Keep it, this time!! Loved the show. Bring back some of you're old stuff! Malaguena, anyone?
