  1. Ha! I was just about to say it'll be awesome as long as it doesn't end up looking like Soldier Field...
  2. personally, if you add in travel costs, it's almost $2,000 cheaper...
  3. Are you really sure? I personally think it'd be kind of nice to see "AJ WRIGHT" spelled out across a corps as they hit a company front or big arc...
  4. oh. and any movement from the show put to words is always a great one.
  5. it's funny how every corps seems to have their own song about getting off the ****** bus. always a crowd pleaser at 3 A.M. While a song for the entire bus was never really agreed on, **** A Dog In The *** by Blink-182, and Scotty Doesn't Know by Lustra have been favorites of the areas where I've sat.
  6. but aren't a couple of corps that own their own busses buying new ones to allow for the 15 extra?
  7. I like the idea a lot, but you'd come up with problems on how people would get there since the "target" is generally high school bandos you have to figure that only about half of them drive, and the fact that their parents essentially still control what they do. Because of the restrictions that they are placed under, travel is a large issue. Rather than allowing them to go to a show which is in most cases less than 20 min away, they would have to go to the nearest big stadium, which could mean twice the travel time, and twice the issues. If more support from the local band programs were encouraged, such as providing transportation, this is a fabulous idea.
  8. too bad to most drum corps is marching band and a question keyboards as in marimbas and vibes, or keyboards as in piano/synth?
  9. oh..i didn't see it myself, but i heard about it. it makes me excited for glassmen. they have the same arranger don't they?
  10. I'm not going to complain. This is the closest (more recent) DCI finals site for me. less money spent on travel costs makes it easier for me to march and go to college.
  11. i didn't have any problems with checking my baritone at the gate for a really long flight. it came back virtually undamaged (the middle latch on the case had broken). but this may have been simply because it was accompanied by about 30 other horns on this particular flight. my suitcase on the other hand is a different story. but it held up for the rest of tour so it could have been worse. i also flew once from O'Hare to LAX and back with my trombone which has just a standard cheap Blessing stock case, and it with help from some bungee chords it turned out find. Once again, this is another situation where it was accompanied by other horns/oddly shaped boxes from a group. Both times, I flew with American Airlines, so I'm guessing that they're pretty good about that. Either way, it's advisable to use something to make sure the case stays shut. Maybe sticking a couple fragile stickers on the case could help as well
  12. Bluestars are an amazing corps when it comes to this. Shared a housing site and rehearsal field with them this summer and they were just amazing. One of the corps that would clap and say good luck as you walked by in uniform. I'd never seen this happen before, and it let me do the same for others, following in their example.
  13. wait...6000 corps kids work at disney? did i read that wrong?
  14. cymbeline ...cymbal line? haha too bad cymbeline was before the cymbal line
  15. it seems that the people who make someone feel bad about leaving to find the corps that is for them, are the people who attribute greatly to the cause of the member leaving in the first place you find your real family when you "break the news" of changing to your friends and they are completely understanding of your reasons, and still will maintain the friendships you have. those are the people who seem not worth leaving.
  16. but is it a member's fault to leave because they are tired of the staff constantly saying how much improvement the corps is making, yet to see no reflection in scores, year after year? i don't think it is...
  17. ok...so this is really off topic but i had to ask.. after watching LD Bell 2005 (the positive comments made me want to haha) ... what is that melody at 9:15 from????? (note...i cheated and used youtube..) I've heard several other high school bands play it and i can never seem to figure out what it is...
  18. "Looking back, I still remember how much of a stress this decision was. I felt like I was abandoning my friends, but at the same time, I didn’t want to march where it didn’t feel “right” for me." from that article... yeah ...most definitely agree with that. it's so stressful, even thinking about switching corps. but it (hopefully..) is worth it to truly find a "home" has anyone switched one year, and then gone back to their original corps the next?
  19. HA ...wait..if the cavaliers did play something because the cubs "won", would they take after the cubs and just lose real bad going into finals week...
  20. whether "that guy" is the one who does/says something stupid, is severely annoying, or can't handle the simplest tasks, i think "don't be that guy" pretty much sums it up.
