  1. I wish I could have seen this show from the front. I enjoyed the design, but felt they were limited in their equipment and movement. I also would have liked to see the performance of the members-- it didin't come across in the back stands. I have to disagree on both counts. Although I enjoy the pastel silks... they are super dirty and add very little to the show overall. I think the new voice-overs helped a lot more than the new flags did. Code Black...uhm... FIERCE! From the back, you could totally see them engaging their back muscles whenever they did an arm movement. It was beautiful, and I couldn't even see their faces! I enjoyed this show, but didn't really understand the point of the rocking chair, or why the one guy was always sitting in the chair when the story was about a letter a mother writes to her daughter on the daughter's wedding day... Loved this show! I didn't know that was an Imogene Heap song. I never heard it before.
  2. If they're world class and they can't do it, then they shouldn't do it. Even an experienced A class designer knows if your kid can't do it, re-write it so it's achievable.
  3. Can I petition to have my guard who didn't make finals also do an exhibition? I think this should be avoided. The only exhibitions I'd like to see are Seishi again, maybe performers who were in Mia Michael's master dance class do their routine, and the Special Needs Colorguard-- They ALWAYS bring the house down!
  4. thanks! That helps a lot. I was also watching Central Independent, and was unsure of their show. Is it something about icy relationships? I watched it twice, and wasn't really sure even then.
  5. Has anyone seen Braddock Independent's show? I couldn't really hear the voice-over on the Fan Network, but it looks to me like the show is about cockroaches after the apocalypse. Am I really far off base? There are some other shows I have questions about, and figured others might as well; therefore, this thread.
  6. AWESOME! Congratulations Benjy and the rest of the Spectrum family! I love your organization, and your show this year looks fantastic! Can't wait to see it live in Dayton!
  7. The first thing I thought of is that it's the Air-blade material shaped like a rifle. in other words, made out of car bumper. I kind of want to spin one, but don't want to spend the $50 to investigate. maybe they'll have one at Dayton that I can spin. BTW-- this is in the new ALGY catalog (I just got mine yesterday). I don't know if it's in any others yet. I doubt that it's an ULTIMATE (George Miller and Sons), because Algy sells Elite brand sabres and rifles.
  8. Without seeing it, i'm still not sure. I don't get "depression" from the song. I think it's just heavy (like gravity), perhaps the song is about depression, but i've only heard snippets of it. does she just fall, or does she do some sort of body with it? like-- rolling around, etc. is the spinning "spinning" or is it an interpretation of the music? does it fit with the beginning? does she carry through the "heaviness" or "gravity" concept throughout?
  9. That doesn't give much detail. a description of 15 seconds? HOW is she going to do it-- will it be 15 seconds of her falling down and getting back up just to fall again? Does it fit with the music? What kind of flag? What level of work? Will she stand in place the whole time? A solo should be approached the same way as any other show.
  10. Anyone attend the Houston Regional? Just wondering how that was?
  11. How's the video and sound quality?
  12. It will be cold at some, and some it may be warm. Some people will do really well, and others won't. Lots of Regional A guard kids will learn a lot, and be amazed.
  13. Whatever you do, don't go to the Chinese buffet about 10 minutes away. I've already forgotten where it is, but I'll always remember to not eat there if I see it again.
  14. Sad indeed! I wish I had that budget for my guard! Our budget is not even half of that, and we don't get to use school facilities for free, which is where most of our budget goes-- paying for rehearsal sites!
  15. Defensive? I don't see it. I voiced my opinion as well, and gave some background information that others may not have been aware of. Please don't push me for voicing my opinion just like others have. At least I didn't say anything negative about anyone.
  16. That's called "creating an identity." I don't understand the "throwing equipment up in the air together" comment. And I'm sure the whole crowd did not feel the same way. I'm guessing this is the first time you really watched them at the beginning of the year? a few years ago they were doing the same thing at Premier night, then by finals they were tossing ensemble 7s and 8s. Not that high tosses make a world class colorguard. It's what goes on before, during, and after the toss that sets World class apart from the other classes. And I hope your assessment of FIU is correct! I hope they've improved from last year, as I have 2 former students performing with them this year!
  17. $180 for 15 USED Home Made Flag bags?
  18. OMG! What happened to all the guards? Where did they all go? Specifically, where is Barbara Goleman HS?
  19. thanks Jeff! Seriously, though. is that Jetta STILL new? ;-)
  20. i've marched with my wife in Frontier. We started dating while doing winter guard.
  21. Awesome! I was wondering if WGI would jump on this opportunity like DCI and BOA did.
  22. Already contacted! Thanks for the info :-)
  23. Figure I might as well post this here: Dues are only $475 for the season, and include travel (by van/bus) to Atlanta, Georgia and to DCA World Championships in Rochester, NY.
